So as the above is impossible no extension by EU will be given so we leave Oct 31 with no deal.

This is what I don’t understand about no deal, what happens to the border? Ireland have ruled out border checks, we’re too much of a clusterfuck to organise anything, will Ireland be temporarily suspended from the customs union on 1 Nov if we don’t get a deal? What is the EU’s plan for the border in a no-deal scenario?
Personally, if Boris really wanted a deal, as he no longer has to rely on Arlene Foster and her mates to prop up his government anymore he should just give NI a referendum on the backstop. If they say no, then it’s no deal, if they say yes we go with May’s deal. The hard Brexit wing of the Tory party have harped on about democracy and the will of the people for so long there’s no way they could reject the outcome of that referendum, even if they make up some other objections to the deal.

I suspect that the EU will probably give the project to a big corporate infrastructure firm, creating the physical apparatus for a hard border no one on either side actually wants.
