That’s even worse. Their Super 8 and wire recorders will be whirring away full time, (or at least when the electric is on between 3 and 5pm.)

Do pubs still close on Sunday in Wales…came as a big shock when staying in the north of the principality. :frowning:

How should I know? Can’t remember the last time I strayed across the border.

We spent a week there back in 2013. Didn’t speak to anyone though, or at least they didn’t speak to us.

My dyslexic mate was asleep in the car last time I went there. He woke up, saw the road signs and yelled ā€œfucking hell, I’m cured!!!ā€

They had a referendum in, I think 1988, just a few months after I moved to West Wales. There was much excitement building up to the vote in my, extremely rural hamlet, the locals were mainly farmers and old fashioned tradesmen, hippies, with the odd artist and teacher thrown in. They all seemed to have ferocious thirsts, their capacity for beer was truly impressive. No notice was paid whatsoever to the licencing laws at the time, the local pub was open by 10 am and they closed, as the landlord explained to me, ā€œwhen it suits meā€. Saturday nights would see farmers, all scrubbed with their best suit on, arriving for their night out at 11 pm, some arriving on tractors. But not on Sundays. The referendum really was seen as an historic occasion in those parts, it was the only topic of conversation in the days leading up to it, and the result was celebrated wildly in the traditional manner.
It will probably come as no surprise to anyone that I voted against continued Sunday abstinence! I lived in that valley with my family for 16 years, they were great times, some fabulous memories of some great people.

What a way to fucking run a country. Unbelievable really, no wonder the rest of the civilised world is looking on at this absolute shitshow with a mixture of amusement and pity. The saddest thing of all is that none of this should come as a surprise, anyone with a modicum of intelligence should have known exactly what Johnson is like, it was hardly a secret. It was always going to end this way, and yet otherwise intelligent people voted for it, countless thousands of them really believed that this entitled, immoral, corrupt, pathological liar was the man for them, would be on their side. And still believe it. You do have to wonder what it would take, what would the tipping point be. We all probably felt superior last year, watching the shenanigans unfolding in the USA election, the open attempts to subvert democracy. But this country is well on the way to going full Trump, some of the laws that have been, and are being sneaked through by the Home Office at the moment, and the gerrymandering to come are clearly designed to ensure a continuing Conservative majority, regardless of the wishes of the majority. We are on a very slippery slope, and people need to stop sleepwalking onto it and wake up.

It’s a bit late for that - given the amount of people who still think he’s doing a really great job in the face of all the proof that the Tories are not in it for Joe Public.

I may have said before that I rarely have hate for people, but this incompetent is a rare exception.

The electorate get what they deserve I guess

I was a Leader
Of a team
It was my job to know what the rules were, both written & implied
I knew that no matter what I achieved, if I or my team broke those rules I would be fired.
Yes we had fun but NEVER outside those rules.
That was the most important part of THE job.
Boris will not get sacked
But he will rot in Hell
