:gov: Boris Johnson is Still the Prime Minister

Shovel for Johnson. No ifs. No buts.

He has complete deniability

He will just point at Parliament and say the Benn Act made negotiating a deal twice as hard and those tossers in Parliament are trying to overturn the result of the referendum. Turf them out and I will give you Brexit

No ifs, no buts.

The opposition parties WILL write the Tories campaign material for them.

I’m watching the debate in Parliament at the moment. Judging from the speeches of the Conservative MPs, the message about the opposition is “dither and delay”.

Three words, repeated ad infinitum. The Tories get a landslide on a simple message with a considerable grain of truth.

Chickens, shit Brexit policy (get a deal and campaign against it) and ditherers.

All going to the Blairite plan, predicated on the notion that no-one survives two general election losses.

Same result on the poll. Majority win, but 2/3rds majority of the entire Parliament was not met.

299-70

Which is annoying because it more than clears the threshold on those that actually voted.

I reckon the early election bill will pass though. Be interesting to see what amendments are put forward and who supports them. Rule out no deal in 2020? Votes for 16 year olds?

The only one that is in any way feasible is the votes for 16 year olds, the only thing that can’t be repealed after the election. Everything else is up for grabs.

Think that would actually help Labour. People vote in self-interest. If sixteen year olds had the franchise, I imagine Labour’s pledge to scrap tuition fees would be a winner.

Dispatches coming on in 5 minutes Channel 4. Investigating how a post Brexit trade deal with the USA will cost the NHS billions when the price of medicines will soar. I know you Brexiters don’t want to hear this, just stick your fingers in your ears and pretend it won’t happen, but if Johnson gets his way this will be the reality for our NHS under Brexit. Shocking that people are prepared to risk this in pursuit of, lets face it, the ‘religion’ of Brexit.

Corbyn referenced this in Commons this evening.

Again, isn’t that predicated on the Tories getting in and getting a sizeable majority?

I think the point is that Johnson lied (I know I know) about the NHS not being on the table for any future trade deal with the US.

The NHS has been on the table for years. The only sense in which US control matters is that they’ve made such a balls up of it themselves and we wouldn’t want their model imported. That has been a danger under every Tory government.

This is not a new thing. They’re Tories. They’ll tell you it’s raining while pissing on your back.

Did you watch the programme? At the moment we are free to purchase generic medicines, post brexit we have no choice but to negotiate a trade deal with the US, on their terms. Anyone who believes that won’t be the case is in cloud cuckoo land. It will cost the NHS billions every year, lining the pockets of USA big pharma. Or do you believe that we hold all the cards, they need us more than we need them? Now where have I heard that nonsensical bollocks before!

Again, it’s all predicated on the Tories getting in with a sizeable majority and this country having no option but to have a trade deal on punitive US terms.

Why are we treating this as fact?

But I thought you wanted a proper brexit? Free from the enslavement of Europe and their nasty trade rules. Regardless of who the government is, tory or Labour, a clean break brexit, for which you have been banging the drum for the past 3 years with a religious fervour, with any dissenters being labelled quislings, will necessitate a trade deal with the US, on their terms. Of course we were promised trade deals with upwards of 40 countries the day we free ourselves from the yolk. Countries around the world falling over themselves, desperate to trade with us. All fantasy of course. The truth is that post brexit this country and its assets will be picked off by American businesses. Which, of course, is the whole point of brexit in the first place. This has always been the plan for the Johnson’s of this world. Did you seriously think it was for the benefit of the likes of you and me? Oh dear!

Yeah, but I don’t see how we end up in the supposedly existential threat situation that means that we MUST take up a US trade deal in order to trade with it, on terrible terms that’ll kill the NHS through US private investment.

As I’ve also pointed out, multiple times, this also needs a Tory government with a sizeable majority to gain any traction.

Do you think the latter will happen?

Yes I think it is very possible. That’s why Johnson is pushing for an election on the 12th December. Depths of winter, dark at 4 pm, cold, wet, universities broken up, there are good reasons why there hasn’t been an election in Dec for more than a hundred years. Would be the lowest turnout ever. Pure gerrymandering by Johnson in his attempt to get his way. Swinson enabling him because she thinks it would be a good chance to gain seats. She is a tory anyway, as her voting record shows, expect her to enter a coilition with Johnson if necessary. A general election should be about party policies, for the next 5 years, this one would be on a single issue, brexit. Effectively another referendum, if that’s what they want hold one, then an election. Swindon has no policies, neither do the tories, (well, none they want to admit to). The only party with clear policies are Labour. But despite so called rules about equal and unbiased media coverage, which will be torn up and ignored by the present disgraceful MSN, these policies will be misrepresented and ignored. Aided and abetted by the blairites in the party, which has already begun, see mandelson, Campbell et al. Expect to see a renewal of the anti semitism nonsense too. Corbyn is facing a battle on all fronts and I fear his enemies, the establishment will prevail. Any general election on Johnson’s terms should be resisted, he is fundamentally dishonest and a pathological liar who cannot be trusted to honour any promises and commitments he makes.

Labour has a lot of clear domestic policies.

It’s never going to get to use them because of its shit-awful Brexit Policy. You could hold the election on Midsummer’s Day and you’d still get the same result.
