Gangs can be seen as surrogate families, there is an awful lot of truth in that.

Bump.
Seems time.
This has become a proper cause for the age and for Millenials. That is a good thing.
Historically UK has always had “groups” of discontents be they Anarchists or for example with CND " extreme protesters".
They believed they fought for a cause but they often undermined it.
#BLM is no different. It is a threat to the existing order. Some maybe 1 in 1000 will see the chance to push the anarchy agenda. Some will see the chance to infiltrate and undermine the cause.
And some may simply be Agent Provocateurs.
They damage the cause. In the US most protests have settled down and are peaceful. UK organisers should try to do the same.
The Statue defacing in London vs Bristol vs US could be down to local issues. London could be “the underminers” Bristol? That really is a local issue.
That man should not have been recognise in such a way in this modern day
When was the statute erected as possibly not in the modern day?
Ah late night posts in the wrong thread.
That statue should have been moved to a Museum years ago as was requested by the citizens of Bristol. The council messed it up dithering
Thread = story
Mod note, moved @Polski_Filip’s posts to this thread and deleted @Fatso and @PhilippineSaint’s replies about why his original post was in the wrong thread…
The statue should have gone years ago but mob rule worries me massively, this will only entrench views concerning change and law and order.
And another thing is we continue to copy the Americans, can’t we think for ourselves?
BBC News - George Floyd: Minneapolis council pledges to dismantle police department
Spin or the new reality. Certainly there is something wrong in the US and maybe a change from Militarisation to Community policing is a step in the right direction.
Much more to do though
My post wasn’t about why it was in that thread. I was asking @PhilippineSaint why his post was a relevant response to @Polski_Filip point.
Mate of mine just posted a zinger of a status on Facebook.
It simply reads:-
The statue tripped and fell
I agree. It worries me that we continue to copy the Americans. Can’t we think for ourselves?
Many people have done both good and bad and conversations certainly need to be had but are we going to take down Gandhi and Mandela pieces?
It really is a very complex issue, Colston shouldn’t have been there, no way but his history only came to light in 1998 and was forgotten about until 2 years ago.
Yes, that’s pure Wilde or Keats that mate…
What nonsense is this?
Calston and his history was largely ignored and not known until a Professor spoke about him.
How can it be “not known” AND “largely ignored”? Another statement that makes no sense. If it’s not known then it’s not being ignored, it’s just not known.
Moving on, it wasn’t unknown. It might have been unknown by you, but that doesn’t mean it was unknown.
