Think we’ve let them off the hook. Anderson selection showing up to be a bad decision. Curran would have got movement & kept pressure on or Stone could have blown away tail enders
Edgbaston always plays better on day 2 though so maybe we dont want to blast them out yet & get a couple of heavy rollers on it tomorrow
4.01pm The umpires are out there, taking a look. No umbrellas which is a promising sign … restart at 4.20pm
Jeez. Still got 36 overs to bowl this session!
He does but he is not nor ever will be a frontline bowler, deal with it.
I don’t know if we’ve let them off the hook but as I’ve said they have Warner and Smith, if they bat well or one of them does we’re in trouble as we have no batsmen near their quality or certainly nowhere near Smith.
Moeen breaks through phew
Siddle gone
I like cricket, I really do and you have to say he is probably the best batsman since Bradman, he is that good.
I’d be very very surprised if we can get to 250 and we’re going to be batting last.
We’ve fucking thrown in the towel here with our field positions. Embarrassing.
Shocking tactics from Joe Root, not even trying to get Smith out. Not looking forward to these few overs we have to face, this will be a test of character for the openers.
I think I wrote this the other day.
Wasn’t that shortly after you said that the bowlers will dictate the ashes?
No I said this first I think? Those 2 are the only batsmen who can change the ashes from it being a low score ashes.
It’s almost like Root, Bairstow, Woakes, Stokes (to an extent) and Moeen (on his day) don’t exist
So the bowlers will decide the Ashes apart from these batsmen. And you’ve picked the only two world class batsmen in the Australian side as being pivotal. Go you.
Well I said before anyone else, we don’t have players of that calibre so we have to bowl better than them, did todays performance give you hope? Does is now we’ve lost Anderson and we only went in with 3 seamers?

Selectors & Jimmy could have lost the Ahes in that 1st session… Jimmy needed to prove his fitness, match situation is so different from practice.
Edgbaston bats better on day two. Really have to hope 2 of our lot can get in and not make an ODI mistake tomorrow.
Need 350 minimum & preferably bat into day 3.
Expect us to struggle to last until tea time.
You simply don’t understand it do you? We started the match with 3 seamers and a spinner, you don’t count all rounders in your line up especially when Stokes is that high up the order. All rounders with good stats of both are very very rare, Smith started out and even played in the Ashes as a spinner years ago, he developed into a great batsman.
If we bowl tomorrow we lose, we also fuck up our bowlers, the batsman need to fucking bat, not even that, just stay there and the runs will come.
