❄ Are you a woke bloke? (MoM approved)

I will, but certainly not to find plagiarism.

If you want plagiarism in comedy, check out Denis Leary’s shameful theft of Bill Hicks’ smoking bit.

Homage is entirely different. Standing on the shoulders of giants is fine.

They constantly reference The Goons in interviews about their influences.

This is not Joe Pasquale.

The PG rating says a film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older while 12A recommends children under 12 shouldn’t watch without being accompanied by an adult.

Of the 93 complaints the board received last year, 27 were about 1980 space opera film Flash Gordon.

The movie’s 40th anniversary re-release was reclassified up to 12A partly due to the inclusion of “discriminatory stereotypes”.

The BBFC did not say what the stereotypes were. However Flash Gordon’s main villain, Ming the Merciless, was of East Asian appearance but played by Swedish-French actor Max von Sydow.

There is going to be an interesting test of how the general public feel on the idea of whether trans women are really women.

In a week’s time. Laurel Hubbard is going to compete in the Women’s 87kg Weightlifting. Some are hailing this as a progressive move forward, but I think this is going to perceived very differently should Hubbard win it.

I don’t think it should be allowed. I have no problem with classing her as a woman, but I don’t think she can, fairly, be allowed to compete against other women.

She went through puberty as a male which gives her an advantage over those that went through puberty as a female. If she wants to be a weightlifter fine, however she should not be competing against those who did not go through puberty as a male

I’m in full agreement, and have therefore scrapped my plans to watch the Women’s 87kg Weightlifting in protest. :rage:

I find it quite interesting that this is New Zealand, the Jacindaverse - that has decided to trial this. I wonder if she’s thought this through.

The most positive response is going to come from the Anglosphere, but as this thread shows, not a lot of people are comfy with the idea.

I’d actually like Hubbard to win. I think it’ll put this issue front and centre in a way that can’t be ignored.

It was once before with the SA Athlete…
And in a way with the Oscar Pretorius debate
There is a simple answer. New classification of athletes but that continues “pigeon holing” so there is no answer.

Stephen Yaxeley-Lennon is not a woke bloke.

But he’s a broke bloke. And rightly so.

The SNP. Proof that when you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything.

How about “Fuck Knows” :lou_eyes_to_sky:

I’ve noticed that a lot of recruiters on LinkedIn are doing this now as well…

Which would be about right, LinkedIn (or GriefedIn as I like to call it) is the biggest fucking virtue signalling social network there is.

It is called “WankedIn” around these here parts. Not sure why, there is no alliteration or fun play on words. I suspect it has more to do with the type of people who love it.

And most people (me included, sorry) are completely suckered into using it, posting stuff on it, sharing work shit, inviting contacts and, of course, making bloody sure your profile is up to date.

This is despite the fact that if you not looking for a job, its a waste of time, and even if you are, it’s of questionable use - unless you are an employer or a recruitment firm.

LinkedIn makes 96% of its revenue from recruiters. Everyone else uses it because… who knows

Its means you can have your CV up and available without your boss realising. In fact he would probably encourage it

Those fuckers at linked in are forever trying to get us to pay - Their last quote to us for the premium product (which was like the free product before they stripped the good stuff out) was roughly £100k per year and we didnt even get to keep the data.

I cannot wait for it to die a quick and ugly death

Becoming more like Farcebook every day

Not a chance.

Not specific to the SNP, fairly common throughout the civil service now. None of it compulsory so far.
