The honest attitude of a child is a wonderful thing and just talking on an equal level to people that are generally ignored is extremely important. Well done to her and her parents.
We also do need to consider the policies that cause these issues and not let it become a feel good story in the press, whilst people like that girl are the only ones doing anything.
The American media do this all the time and if you watch this(21minutes onwards and bare with it for the first couple) you’ll notice how close we’ve become to their hideous model.

I’ll take the kids we can solve it together anytime.

Feeling a bit delicate today.

This is a story to inspire you to reach for your dreams and never ever give up …

Many years ago my mate’s missus came a close second in the Miss Southampton 2007 competition. Later that year she was beset by a long period of bad luck. She suffered years of drug and alcohol abuse and a series of eating disorders. She lost a leg and needed facial reconstruction surgery after a road traffic accident. Later, she suffered 90% burns in an unprovoked acid attack. Several of her teeth were knocked out and an eye gouged in a fight outside a KFC Chicken Take Away. The stress caused severe hair loss and facial warts.

But she never stopped believing.

And then finally, last month, she was crowned Miss Portsmouth 2019 …

Never give up!

A deeply moving and truly humbling story. I hope you’ve sent that to the Portsmouth equivalent of sotonians.

Indeed…not normally an emotional type but I have to admit I did a little poo when I heard that.

Could have gone in the ‘what are you listening to thread’ but when you whiz over to Utoob and read the text by Colin M, it did make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and it’s a great song and great video

Lovely story here.
Police released a report that a 99 year old woman had been robbed.
They took everything including her ÂŁ350 life savings.
She lives alone her family died off in the War. She climbs on a wooden chair to cut the bushes in her garden & used a 50 year old push mower to cut the grass before it was taken.
Today?
She has over ÂŁ100k in her account. All her lost gadgets have been replaced with new but easy to use as close to her original.
Businesses are repairing her home and she is an absolute gem on TV.
All she wanted back was her radio.
Bless her and rot in hell the scum who robbed her

Shite that this was ever an issue. Delighted to see it resolved.

Lots of public pressure weighed into this decision.

I can vouch for that. I got hearing aids two years ago after resisting it for years. When it got to the stage where i couldn’t follow dialogue on the TV, even struggled to understand conversations in a group setting i relented. It was, as you say a lightbulb moment. These days they are reasonably discreet and unobtrusive, unlike the ones my mother had, which was like a housebrick in her top pocket with a cable leading up to her ear, which made awful screeching noises when she went anywhere near anything metal. I would have preferred permanent silence rather than put up with that!
