šŸ¦ A nice animal

An unexpected side effect of our version of lockdown has been spending almost every day since March at home.
Tiger was a Street Cat in Dubai who simply moved in the afternoon our previous Cat passed away.
She was a character, had a precise routine and quickly became a family member.
The heart v head debate meant when we left, she was coming with us. We drove her from Ministry to Ministry to Cargo Village & home for what seemed weeks, and she gave us shit for it.
The big day came & she was delivered to Cargo before we boarded the same flight. Hours later we cleared her through customs & home.
Her 1st year she stayed indoors, we were on 3rd floor. Not bothered, she was happy, loving and gave us shit if we ignored her.
When we moved to the family home she quickly encountered the Alsatian and was VERY careful when she would go out.
She would literally whack me with her paw in the afternoon to go for a cuddle & a snooze on the bed, and just lived watching TV with me.
Yesterday was the same, the afternoon snooze up against my leg, at precisely 4pm as ever she told me it was ā€œFishā€ time. She actually had a sound for it.
Then she went out.
And didn’t come home.
Mum found her this morning, as if she was asleep in the long grass by the fence.
Maybe hit by a car & tried to get home, or maybe it was just time.
I’ve lost Pets before, but never a family member like this.
Absolutely stupidly broken.

You always try to tell yourself there’ll be another one…but there never is.

Like people they’re all unique.

I feel for you there mate - happened to me several times with cats and (more recently) a dog. It’s horrible. But I wouldn’t have been without any of mine, and I’m sure you feel the same about Tiger.

Yesterday was tough.
Mother in Law & I laid her to rest in the flowerbeds she loved to sit in. That was tough.
Tge family Alsatian Neff (Nefertiti) came up, quietly, and joined us. Head down & gave a little whine. I lost it again
Today I went out on the tractor motor, she came and not only kept me company but barked if I went off line. Really weird.
Many friends had got to know Tiger, and their kind words (& yours @Fowllyd really helped)
I found myself looking at the door or on the chair on the patio so i didn’t sit on her, damn it’s tough.
But, also, the memory of seeing her, in Customs, in her box, on a forklift shouting WTF? kept me going.
We went through hoops to get her here, she loved it, and gave us so much love back.
Tomorrow will be tough, with Mrs P_F coming back to an ā€œemptyā€ home but this thread helped so much.
Thanks guys

Hello! Hope you are all ok!

So I woke up this morning with this in my kitchen…

I thought it was dead so gave it a poke and the fucker ran…

So the question is, what the fuck is it?

Could be Bertie, Sotonians resident bug, looks like he has escaped the matrix and manifested in physical form.

Lino.

Looks like a tick of some sort to me, but not sure…

That’s a possibility. I have imprisoned it in a jar whilst I research it. The wife may have a funny turn if she finds it but she is expendable. The bug is not.

Lino is pet friendly so no worries. I have called him Steve. Or Sharon if he’s a she.

Yeah, good shout. I’ll put it on the wife and see if it sucks blood.

Yep as Bob says it’s a tick. I found one on our Molly (not Ladyslowlane) yesterday.

I couldn’t work out what it was as most of those I’ve seen are either attached and have to be removed carefully with tweezers or are already dead as our dogs have a regular tablet to make sure they don’t survive if they bite.

I caught the little blighter and popped it with a tissue and flushed in down the loo. They can be nasty bastards as they potentially carry Lyme’s Disease…you don’t want that.

Sensible to humanely dispose of it…a 12 bore preferably. :lou_lol:

Cover them in vaseline, they suffocate and fall off naturally, if you try and pull them with tweezers you can leave they head in the host…

Yep I say tweezers as most people don’t have a tick removal tool if they’re not dog owners.

Just found this trying to sneak in
