🤪 2019 General Election Discussion :gov:

Are you on Facebook at all? There is a visceral level of hatred for the man and I’ve fallen out with my own uncle over it.

Your right there I have never seen some much vitriol as against Corbyn and from people I know that should know better and they are just posting reposting stuff put up by the far right websites.

Totally agree.
The problem for Labour & supporters will be to keep seeing comedy Boris and sensible Jezza.
Jezza will talk sense. Boris will say what the Blue Rinse brigade want to hear.

Completely correct. I saw one thing today where someone had done a ā€œmemeā€ in which Corbyn was wearing a poppy. Also on the picture were two zoom ins, eventually revealing the legend ā€œLet’s forgetā€ on a small banner area below the poppy.

It was an obvious Photoshop defacement of a banner which clearly once said ā€œNever Forgetā€. The space between ā€œLet’sā€ and ā€œForgetā€ was massive and nothing anyone would set out to design.

Finally, there is also so the small matter of why on Earth a leader of the opposition would go to a Remembrance Service wearing a poppy bearing the legend ā€œLet’s Forgetā€. Photoshop or not, do these people even give the claim being made a second thought? You’d have to say no based on the evidence.

Lots of writing Boris off on here

I think you do so at your peril

Face it, whatever he says would generally set your teeth knashing. That fine, but then you are never going to vote for him in a million years. what you need to remember is that your vote is not the one he wants.

Boris lies say opposition.
Of course you’d say that says Blue Rinse brigade.sense & logic wont get through to people with fingers in their ears going lalala.
Somehow Labour must be more specific in their message.
Poor old Boris, Corbyn stopped the deal is all they hear.
I hate that but it is a fact they have to overcome

Totally agree and they have to get passed that fast

Yes but you are arguing on the basis of FPTP… versus what those with a social bent consider more important… the issue of 408 is irrelevant if you want to shout about 17.4 majority. Truth is… and I will bet my mortgage on it… the Majority IF fully aware of the social implications of a hard brexit or the truth that those advocating it were always just in it for themselves would have delivered different outcome (if not also conned into believing all the bullshit about the impact of immigration…)

Is it me or are all media sites unbearable already

It’s like they have dialled up their prejudice to 11. That goes for both right and left wing media

I wouldn’t touch Facebook with a fucking bargepole.

Hahaha. The naturally gifted speaker has got off to a good start. Fucking hilarious. How anyone with an ounce of decency and self respect could endorse this clown is beyond me.

ā€œIt’s an oven ready Brexit, slam it in the microwave, get it doneā€
Hahaha. The Sun readers will totally get that!

On a more serious note, this is what politics in this country today has been reduced to. God fucking help us.

Some of us not so poshoes (including Pap and I) studied Latin. I even did classics at Tautons. Though having lived in the real world I have pretty much ditched all that and I hope I can have a conversation about other things and not quote some latin.

Olim caudex, semper caudex.

He can do the after dinner speeches and a chat about Greece with notes. Ask him some hard stuff. Maybe not so much.

Illegitimi non carborundum.

It’s important for those of us with friends around the world BUT opened it this morning and it is just a nightmare.
May take a break as well.

Yup, I am arguing on the basis of FPTP.

There is a reason for that with an upcoming General Election.

I think the only possible way Labour come out of this with anything is by threading the eye of the needle. They’ll need the vote to split in a lot of constituencies or they’re doomed.

Brexit Party is going to make a dent in the North. How much of a dent will depend on how pissed off people are with Labour.

The report is expected to show Russian money flowing into UK politics - particularly the Conservative party.

We seem unlikely to see the report before the election. Convenient?

Lot of Russian billionaires live in London and have a lot to lose if Corbyn enacts half of what he is promising

Not surprising that they don’t want change

Also no one is batting an eye lid about George Soros pouring money in to influence the Brexit debate
