I clicked on the Frankie Boyle link in the comments, very enlightening. That Laura Kuenssberg, what a little minx! Sheās obviously another one whoās succumbed to the dubious Johnson charms. The BBC needs to get a grip.
It is sad but the idea of a Corbyn / McDonnell govt makes it (IMO) the lesser of two evils
If there was a more centrist opposition then it might be different although the Brexit issue would also have some bearing
The idea of one, possibly.
The actuality of one would be a slightly different thing. Iām not as sure that day one, theyāll be recommissioning Soviet-era T-34s to capture what will soon be known as Corbyngrad.
Just look at the policy, and genuinely ask yourself whether it benefits you and yours. That is what self-interest is supposed to be about. Do you want all your descendants to be squirreled into a system that taxes aspiration? Is it better to spend the best part of fifty years locking someone up because academic pathways were financially blocked to them, or is it better to spend 50K training them for three years to do something productive?
From day one, I have loved having you on this site because you kept all of us lefties honest. I canāt quite accept the caricature that seems to be informing your voting decision, so please allow me to reciprocate.
I have said over and over to people here in Carlisle this same thing. Look long term, it is the same with healthcare. All the dentists in Carlisle have gone private and in the long term where will they be ending up, at A&E to try and get fast tracked, because why? They cannot get to see their doctor because the under funding of the NHS.
Fund the NHS, give better opportunities to the young to get educated/trained and this will also help the corporate world when they employ highly trained staff, which in turn will mean less of a financial impact to their company on training. Oh and they can pay their bloody tax.
I dont see anything remotely Stalinist about taxing those who earn over 80k slightly (and it is slightly) more. Hammer those cunts who take millions of profit from our economy whilst paying shit wages, offering ever worse contracts and paying fuck all tax. If they donāt like it, fuck them off. Properly fund the NHS for fuck sake. Build more (just some ffs) affordable housing or we will end up with tent cities like west coast US. Free education is not the red menace in action. If we can afford to bomb the fuck out of people we donāt know then we can afford to educate our kids without lumbering them with 30k+ of debt. None of this is extreme left wing fantasy. Itās just that our politics has been on a 40 year slide to the far right and like frogs in a pot we just seem to accept it as normal.
Personally I think anyone who votes for a party knowing of and dismissing lying on such an industrial scale is complicit in the destruction of an open and equal election campaignā¦the cornerstone of any democracy.
A vote for the Tories is a vote for the destruction of our Parliamentary Democracy.
Hereās an interesting vid:
I would like to know what the hell I am supposed to do when I canāt stand any of them? I have to vote because if I donāt then I have no right to moan when whoever gets in royally f*cks thing up
You donāt have to like a party to vote for it but if one disgusts more than the others, that will cut your options by one. Then go back and choose the one who disgusts you the most out of those that are leftā¦etc, etc.
Having done that you will be left with oneā¦you might not like them but you can look back with satisfaction at the shit you have eliminated
Check out their manifestos and see if one fits. There are some quizzes on line that help.
I donāt agree that all politicians are there only for themselves and some do want to support their constituents. However some do seem to revolve from industry/think tanks/banking sector/lobby groups etc and just see if your one in your area is one of those. Then probably dont vote for them!
If you live in Royston sSmiths constituency it is simple. Donāt vote for him as he only won by about 30 votes so back whoever came 2nd last time. The lib dem candidate has been parachuted in there I think.
Greens just won the spending race
Ā£1tn (trillion) in borrowing over the next 10yrs for climate change alone
Damian takes nice photos too if you get chance to have a look. Heās a mate.
I know! I used to work with him and Pap and I went to school with his brother.
Theyāre in much the same position that the lib dems have traditionally occupied, ie they can spout any spending figures they want, safe in the knowledge that they will never, ever have to implement them. Sadly for Clegg, he got a whiff of shared power and never recovered from it due to his āfailureā to scrap tuition fees. That stick is still being used to beat him with even now, and even given how ridiculous it ever was to blame him for it at all.
Small world. Heāll always be āPegboyā to me. Not as filthy as it sounds
Southampton is v small world. Though I bumped into a lad I went to school with at Walthamstow station the other year. He must now live 10 mins from me (as he did in Southampton). I also bumped into his mum (once my temp manager) up here too.
