Last time I was in New York I had a telegram from my brother-in-law telling me Karl Heinz Rummenigge was signing for Saints…and we all know what happened there.
Yes regarding Bertand I heard it via the press conference in Southampton , England on my laptop. I then had it reapeted via my brother on a magical thing called a telephone.
I would prefer Bertrand in a three but I dont know if Puel meant that or a two with Yosh
Out of interest, how long did the steamship passage take in the olden days?
… and did you shag any posh tottie with a pechant for 3rd class ruffians ?
There is a telegramme posting station on the Gower Pennisular where the first or nearly the crossatlantic conversation took place. Also there is big fat cable running under the sea from UK to USA. Ive often thought about that cable as being vuruble just like our defence at the moment, but as in all things I do hope my worries are unfounded and Claude has it all covered.
If that isnt the case I would like Mr Reed to consider his position. I am sure there are other people that could do the job of director of football. He has had a good run at it and for the most part done well. But everyones time comes up at some stage if only to get new or fresh eyes to look at the situation. I dont know of any candidates but I do remember the game at Anfield when nigel was in charge and Reed was pointing out to Corsese the gaps between our midfield and defence when nigel was doing his best on the touch line. That was the begining of my distrust for him.
The cup final for me this season is nearly everything ( as long as we dont get in a relgation scrap). I feel its so important to the club and its future even if we lose it. What I cant tolerate is us being so hadicapped by our own actions we cannot put in a decent performance. If Utd get the better of us so be it but Reed has made the job of Puel more difficult . I say that even as is being reported Puel wanted Jose off because I can see he may have been a bad influence. Reeds job surely is to provide the bullets for Puel. A reasonable amount of bullets and a reasonable quality It is a simple as that.
I’m looking forward to the cup final - as long as my pigeon returns soon with an encouraging telegram from the Olde England Ticketing Emporium…
If that doesn’t work I shall just force the gates with the cockney mob and be guided to the sidelines by a man on a white horse.
Either way, I’ll definitely be sporting a rosette the size of a mutton pie - and throwing my hat in the air!
Do you really believe that Reed has done nothing to try and help Puel since Virgil got crocked and Jose left? I can’t tell you if what Jack Schitt wrote in his tweet was true, but it is certainly a lot more believable than Reed/the club doing nothing.

laboured intro of the week, love it! More effort posts like this from bros pls
Yes id like to believe what Jack Schitt said is true. So I do believe he has tried. Unfortunaltly he failed and it leaves the team short, it leaves the club short. If we went in the final I think it would be acceptable, possibly a good thing to give Stepens and Gardos a run out to try and play into a first team role. However for me now its all about the final and we need to be ready for that in our best possible shape.
from all the games this year I think we are good enough to get through the premier league games, but the farce that was the FA cup Arsenal game was too much. Our midfield and Romao in particular were fantastic at Anfield and can protect the defence most of the time. The new boy and our attack is nearly there. I just want a fair shake of the tail against Utd. We can do it I know we can but Reed hasnt done his main job.
As I say he has done well for the club and the club has done well for him but time to move on to pastures new. this is especially true as we have a chairman that differs so openly to him on football matters. He is in that sence more powerfull than most directors of football. This can be a good thing of couse., but it also brings a higher responsibility to get it right. I dont think the job is comparable to a players role I think it is a marketing/admin/planning role. I repeat there must be other candidates around that have a good track record and who wouldnt have dropped the ball at this crutial time
Romeu fucking ROMEU.
That is all.
I’m gonna wait and see if lack of centre back cover costs us League Cup Final Victory, before I shit all over Les Reed and callously disregard all his previous hard work and achievements. I don’t want to end up with Egg On Face, i.e. if Jack Stephens marks Zlatan out the final, scores a last minute winning goal, and has statue erected outside SMS, I might look like a bit of a Dipstick.
Laboured and non-sequitur’d intro of the week. - especially as I wasn’t sure if we were hoping that Claude had our, or the transatlantic cable’s vulnerability, covered.
It reminded me of Cantona’s “When zee Zegul follow the trorla…”
@newyorksaint , more of the same, please!
I laid a big cable in the sea once. It was almost as though the fucking thing was following me when I swam away.
I last thing I want is our defence to be 'laboured and non-sequitur’d.
However Claude will need to have players who can follow arguments or instuctions. They seem to few and far between
It wasn’t a steamship but the airline equivalent…a Freddy Laker Boeing 707…I kid you not. The flight took 3 days.
Shit, bollox, fuck.
I wish I could just call this ‘bullshit’ like much of the other content in the Daily Mail. However, the way our luck is at the moment I would not be at all surprised.
Perhaps I should have posted this in the ‘Relegation Fight’ thread too…
Calm down Simon … if it’s true, then maybe everyone will forget about him and he’ll still be with us next season
I doubt he’ll stay with us in the Championship Steve… we need him for at least 4 games this season to get some results!
Heres hoping I’m made to look foolish for fearing such things.
BBC red button saying he’s out for rest of season and may have played his last game for us because of interest from top clubs, think Chelskii and Barcelona mentioned - might have made up that last bit…
Fucking Vardy.
