I know! My curiosity got the better of me. I thought maybe after seeing the high quality of the game people’s opinions would change…but no. Women still being compared to seven year olds.
I don’t if it’s just the badly designed site (which Steve is fixing) or the backward opinions, but it’s got a pretty depressing vibe when you read that stuff. It’s an amazing forum, but Steve should gets to grips with that kind of crap, it’s really off putting.
And I say that as someone who has never run a forum, so appreciate it’s never quite as easy as that.

The funny thing is, many on there think they are some kind of professional footballer. I should think that most if not all on there would not be anywhere near as good as those players on the pitch last night/this morning. They have a lot of ability.
Ok the men’s professional game is miles ahead, but they have had a bit of a head start…
Lou - I commented yesterday on how much more enlightened this thread is.
Desparately unlucky last night. But, overall, the team has overachieved on expectations and, hopefully, the team and the sport can build on this. No one needs to claim its only x level of the men’s game. There are exciting games and boring games. Enjoy them for what they are.
At least on Sunday my family won’t be split in our support!
Just watched the highlights and that OG was awesome, a goal a striker would have been proud of.
Feel for the poor girl I really do.

It does really get me. They clearly have a lot of ability, that is clear to see. Yes some games are crap, but I have seen many more England (men’s) games that have bored me much more. I have loved this World Cup. They wanted to be there, they played for each other, they were together as friends on and off the field and through the good and last nights bad times!
I have not bothered watching the England men’s games at times and they have played without me even knowing. This has been a real eye opener.
Now it is about time Southampton Football Club supported their own ladies team!

Neither. I grew up in Dorset (near Sherborne) and became a Saints fan. Then moved to the States.

Set my alarm to wake up and watch this as I’d been really impressed by their play, and was really dissappointed that they lost in the way they did, but I have to say…the OG reminded me of the one that the Sunderland defender scored for us. The last thing you want to do in a position like that is defend the ball with your right foot, even if you are right footed…use your left.
I really do feel for her, but a great interview. I feel we can overturn Germany to end 3rd, would love it if Bassett could net one at the right end tonight. Ok it would not really make up for the OG, but she needs some kind of pick me up!
Could not really see any of the current England (men’s) team being this upset!
Let’s take this 3rd place and bronze at the World Cup. Not started that well, but Germany look strong!
