Itā€™s about rounding.

When you calculate a percentage by dividing by the number of votes youā€™ll often end up with a decimal number with many many decimal places.

When you then multiply that number by the number of votes for an option, you end up with another number with lots of decimal places.

If you then need to show that number without decimals then you have two options.

  1. round the number down to the nearest whole number
  2. round the number up to the nearest whole number

If you do either of those and then total all of the percentages you will end up with a number that is either higher or lower than 100%.

So my guess here (and itā€™s only a guess) is that the programmer has saidā€¦

If I total the list of percentages and it comes to less than 100.0 then I will select the first of the options I had to round down and round it up.

Either way it will be to do with rounding.

Union Berlin for me. No reason other than i went to Berlin during last season (when they got promoted) and they were on the TV when i was in a bar and got talking to a fan who was a decent bloke, so i thought iā€™d adopt them as my team. Go Union!

Others around Europe are Le Havre (twin town obvs), Valladolid (won La Liga with them on FIFA 98 or something), Genoa (shagged a great bird from there many years ago and she was a fan and they are also a cricket club).
