I think it’s sad that someone with 2 daughters and a wife see’s women as so disposable.
Personally, I wouldn’t say that just because she wants to stay close to her family is a reason to jack her in. Of course, with your bullying nature I’d be surprised if you even allow the women in your life to have an opinion.
Maybe the choice of words was a bit off, but surely most can see the point that was being made? The country does currently have an undercurrent of a more selfish, mean spirited and with a sense of entitlement… you only have to see the idiots still not social distancing, or those that had ‘one last night in the pub’ or hoarding food and big rolls… an idiocy and selfishness that I am sorry to say is more reflective of the current mentality than clapping the NHS - if the NHS was so important to people, why vote for a party that has abused it for so long?
Maybe its our island mentality that can deliver both the good, such as a pulling together in times of crisis (please), and the bad, the Kleinburgerlichlkeit - the little Englander and their sense of superiority…
Ad that to the social media self obsessed generation and we don’t get a combination that is that attractive right now…imho. Other countries seem to have weathered that storm a bit better, maybe because family has been more part of daily life, less booze culture, I dont know, but whenever I am abroad this does seem the case and it goes beyond the false positives of a week’s holiday
They would have won the election if they’d been pro-remain from the start??
That is possibly the most ridiculous assertion I’ve seen on the subject, and it’s had some top notch competition. Utterly ludicrous, the exact opposite is far closer to the truth.
So how do you make that out when 12 million labour voters voted remain vs 3 mill brexit? seriously? This is about votes, not deep seated politics opinions… you only have to look at ‘labour’ to tory swingers to know its never about principles… its about what people believe will be best for their lot… voting is selfish and always has been… and because we have a first past the post system, the small minority of swingers, often those with less principles hold the power…
I would like to know how Labour would have won had they been a brexit party… when 12 million Labour voters out approx 16 mil were retainers… that is and has been labours problem, the majority of its voters dont agree with the Leadership or its hard core left…
Don’t worry, I think we can guess what it’s in relation to - I assume it went something like:
Bletch: Chertsey has said he wants to come back, you OK with that?
Pap: On your head be it.
Right ball park?
All I’ve done is said that I hold Corbynistas partly responsible for the mess we are seeing in Government now, and that I think spite voters are shits. Nowt contraversial there.
I didn’t say they would have won. I said the opposite was closer to the truth, which is Labour would have fared much better in the election if they had set out a firm Leave position than their fudged maybe/maybe not one. Corbyn had the approval of whole swathes of voters who never would have entertained the idea of a Labour vote previously, and that policy on brexit blew it for him and the party. An outright remain position would have seriously worsened their vote, you cannot alienate 52% of the electorate and expect to win a general election.
As for only 35% of Labour voters voting Leave in the referendum, that figure looks entirely different when you apply it to constituencies, which of course is what decides elections. It was something like 3 to 1 Labour constituencies in favour of Leave when you tot them up, regardless of the number of voters.
