And you got there second! LOL.

For such a distinctive monument, it was surprisingly difficult to locate via searches.

Yeah, that didn’t return a lot of use for me either…

Yeah I had a search for it and as you say, hard to find on Google Images. This is my picture from 2012…

I got there by something like ā€œcoastal monument horses riders -troy promenadeā€ and then hit upon someone’s travel blog talking about Izmir.

I had assumed it was a war memorial and that took me to Gallipoli and all sorts of dead ends.

I have got one but it’s going to take a bit of obscuring before I can post. If anyone wants to jump it, feel free.

Nice one, 'slowlane!

Aye, that’s what I thought at first as well…

I still don’t know what the statue is all about…all the writing on was in Turkish…what’s the use of a statue with Turkish writing. :lou_facepalm_2:

I’m just happy to have got in with the Turkey thing.
That’ll do me

It was described as the Nation Tree and then when I zeroed in it was described as the Independence Day Monument, but Googling either on their own didn’t take me straight to it.

Let’s ask @tigger. She knows fucking everything.

Right this could be a piece of piss or a killer. I’ve left one or two clues in but feel I might have overdone it - but then again I know where it is!

I know where it is, just not exactly where this is…

Why are you bothering me with commentary. I need answers!

I said it might be too easy.

Woollahara, Sydney.

I need a road.

Very good!

If you look up to the left above Paul Stewart’s that was our flat when we lived in Sydney. Corner of O’Sullivan and Birriga Roads.

I you stood on tip-toes you could see Bondi in the distance along Blair Street - to the right in this shot.
