Well youāre either stumped or canāt be arsed to have a guess so hereās a clue for those who are interested⦠it is, as the Vulture flies, 5280 miles north of Florianopolis.
So its not your Dacha just outside Moscow?
No sold that to some American concern some years ago.
I was stumped.
Do you think thereās a clue in there that would give enough information to locate it?
Looks North African to meā¦
Morocco or Tunisia?
Noā¦look west to an edifice with a missionā¦bringing light where none was needed.
Mission San Xavier del Bac near Tuscon Arizona.?
DIng DIng Ding we have a winner. Yes Iāve known about the place after I seeing it in a book of Ansel Adamsā b&w pictures and added it to my list of must sees in the early '70sā¦been there a couple of timesā¦
Itās a wonderful placeā¦if you find yourself within 500 miles go and see.
Took your time, I got it yesterday but didnāt want to spoil it for youā¦
You little trickster you.
So, 'slowlane, was there a clue. Otherwise surely someone who have had to know the structure?
TBH no there wasnāt but I did post it quickly as a stopgap after the tardy behaviour of Barbecue Bob who was supposed to post the next conundrum. I naturally thought someone would search Google for the image and it would be over in 10 minutes.
After nobody made a guess I posted the first clues.
Itās a great game. Used to play it a bit a couple years ago. There was another really good one where you had to put a pin in a map where you thought a place was. Itās not available anymore either. Travel IQ I think it was called.
That was how you originally played āGeoguesserā when you thought youād found the location you pinned it on the map and it would tell you how far from the target you were.
It was the clue(s) that gave me the right direction. Distance, West, Mission.
BTW how does the vulture fly as it was much further than 5280 miles as the crow flies. I forgot you were a fucking map geek - did I measure the hypotenuse when I should have measured the vertical?
Iāve got one to post, but itās going to need some clues - I feel. Will post after footy or tomorrow.
What map projection were you using.
I donāt even understand that question.
I used Google maps (measure distance tool).
Spent too much time in Texas. Looked at lots of āplaces to visit on day trips from Dallas/San Antonioā
Then googled for something like āearly American Christian missionariesā + āold churchesā in images and eventually found it.
Youād have done better searching āSpanish missions in the southwestā
I googled hot dirty missionary and completely forgot why.
