Forster had his dodgy moments but you show me a keeper who didn’t and I’ll show you a bloke with a very selective memory - there are only about two consistent keepers in the division.
I’d have Fraser over £30m Pickford every day of the week - that kid was shocking on occasions.

The central defense/defensive midfield positions throws up a conumdrum.
We need to “blood” Bednarek this coming season. He needs to be “up to speed” when Van Dijk finally leaves and the best way to do that is throw him in alongside Van Dijk for a good many Premier League games. This means we have Yoshida and Stephens looking for regular starts too. Stephens needs games to continue his already impressive development so I would be happy to see him pushed into mid-field as mainly a defensive mid with a remit to get forward when he can. We all know what Romeu can do.
Maya has been a great, versatile player for us and there’s no doubt that’s where his value will lie this season…covering for that central four man unit. He will get games and just like last season he won’t let us down.
Assuming Cedric and Bert Rand stay I think that will make a formidable defensive unit.
Now all we need is a goalscoring att mid and a genuinely speedy winger to put the shits up opposing defenses.

He’s not actually a good keeper. His ‘dodgy moments’ lasted most of the season, certainly the second half. There were quite a few games where the number of opposition shots were the same as the number of opposition goals scored
Good keepers inspire confidence. He doesn’t - he’s too quiet, his body language is awful, he doesn’t command his area.
We’ve been spoilt over the years at SFC with good keepers. Ironically FF made one of he best saves I’ve ever seen last year - only trouble was it was from himself…

Bednarek has made 48 appearances in th Polish leaguie, none in Europe. He’ll be one for the future I think, not likely to be a first team contender for a while

Forster’s stats are really poor - shots to goals ratio (or by implication saves per shot) are some of the poorest in the league.

Every week we were treated to goalkeeping howlers on Match of the Day.
Forster didn’t star in too many of those - so I think some of you guys are too harsh on him and expect a keeper to be 100% all the time, when the nature of the position punishes every mistake.
And if you base your views on stats - out of the 34 keepers who played, I’ve just seen him ranked 4th.
So yes, he had his wobbles, but let’s not make out he’s Tommy Forecast.

We need to break our wage structure, break our transfer record and break open the war chest, you know, a real sign of intent* with a maquis/marky/marquee signing, a proven goalscorer/proven international/proven talent, we don’t want run of the mill squad/utility signings, one for the 1st eleven, better than what we already have, no time needed to settle in, hit the ground running, off the mark quickly, old head on young shoulders with a footballing brain.
Anybody got a full house yet or do I need to come up with some more?

FF was fourth best for clean sheets - but last on save success rate - see link. I don’t think he makes many outright howlers - but doesn’t stop as many shots as he should either
