@Shroppie

And he accepted the challenge last night to appear on The Last Leg, arrivng by bike.

I’m alarmed that Reform are studying LibDem and Ed Davey tactics but reassured that, unlike the LDs who use a joke to draw attention to policy, Reform are just a sick joke and have no policies.

But it is of serious concern that unthinking populism is going to get backed by Musk’s billions and there are millions of idiots who think Farage is a good idea. Not surprising. They thought the same about Johnson.

I actually think the local eiections will see the Lib Dems slugging it out with Reform. The Tories won’t recover and Labour could be decimated on the back of the effective hatchet job the right-wing media are doing on Starmer.

That was a Party Political Broadcast on behalf of Shroppie.

I think you are underestimating Reform - as they grow they will become more effective both from a policy perspective and the calibre of their people

Even without Musk money they are well funded by that property developer chap

The established parties (including the LD) are guilty of ignoring the concerns of a big old chunk of the electorate and those voters are going to be receptive to something different - everyone has been so shit to date what have they got to lose?

This could be like the Macron party sweeping in

I don’t think I’m underestimating them. Whenever the masses are dissatisfied with their lot (or are told they are) a simple populist message will attract the attention of non-thinkers.

And Reform will get better organised - they can’t get worse - and Farage will happily spout three word slogans backed by 90% of the media, which will be lapped up by plenty.

But the idea that, even if they find any realistic policies, these will in any way improve life for the average Brit, is nonsensical.

I always struggle with this line of argument - someone is a non-thinker / thick just because they have a different POV to you.

This is exactly the enlightenment that masses are dissatisfied with. It’s this patronising sit in the corner and we’ll tell you what best for you attitude that will eventually do for the main parties

Well the gammon faced racists have to go somewhere I guess

It’s not really though is it - arguably you’re doing the same in your post :man_shrugging:

I will happily discuss/argue with those of a different political persuasion but I’ve yet to find a Reform voter (or many Brexiteers) who can put forward a logical point of view.

I don’t think it is - I’m not accusing anyone of being thick

I think it is counter productive (as well as just being a lazy categorisation) to do so.

I do find Ruperts tweets hit the point without being “ist”

Will enjoy watching him when he beco.es the Chancellor Britain deserves

He’s actually doing the exact opposite, and avoiding the binary “I’m right and you’re wrong” argument that’s been thrown at the electorate for at least the last decade.
