What an array of greats…Joni, Pat Metheny, Lyle Mayes, Jaco Pistorius, Michael Brecker, Don Alias

After a 2 year break Tiny Desk Concerts are back home.
Alisa Amador is someone I’d never heard of before today, she is a beautiful singer songwriter with such a warm personality. I’m sure she’s going to be an emerging star.

Cleaning the kitchen with the back door open listening to Tones of Town. It’s a stroppy 15 year old now. Deserves to be up there as an all time classic. Never will be.

Festival time here, so I’ll put up some ā€œtunesā€ I actually know & like from the radio.
Obv no idea what the lyrics are so it’s about the tune.
I’ve already shocked Mrs P_F tonight by mentioning a singer she hasn’t heard of.
Then showed her the link on YouTube and she was like oh him. Why did you say Kwiatekekzschtich or something. Anyway, 1st up

Zakopower annoying Violin riff but gets the foot tapping (to relieve cramp) on long drives and yes, he is from Zakopane in the mountains

Could you do the honours please Bob.

Pure quality. I wonder what that show was, two drummers? Reminds me of that Live Stiffs one where everyone ended up on stage, but it’s far too recent.

It was at the Town and Country Club in Kentish Town, round about 1986. A cracking little band Dave Edmunds put together there, he’s a great musician. Saw Rockpile at Poole Arts Centre back in the day, they were superb, Nick Lowe, Billy Bremner, who was a shit hot rockabilly guitarist, not the footballer, Terry Williams drumming who went on to drum for Dire Straits.

Just been checking that gig out, that is the legendary Steve Cropper on rhythm guitar, Edmunds certainly had some pulling power getting someone of his status to play rhythm guitar for him. Likewise Southside Johnny’s brass section.
