šŸŽµ What are you listening to etc

I’ll edit my post, after you translate the song dude

Lyrically the song is about the death of rural communities, something I am all too aware of.

Try googling lyrics.

This is archive stuff, unpublished in this form but present on the 1969 album ā€œThen Play Onā€ in abbreviated form.
17 minutes of the tightest guitar band instrumental you’re ever likely to hear. If you’ve heard little of the original Fleetwood Mac and you like pulse raising guitar led excitement give it a go. An unedited jam…

I didn’t really know where to pop this little anecdote, but here seems as good a place as any, and I’m sure you’ll all enjoy a tale of KRG getting a humbling.

Many moons ago, the (very nice) lass I sat next to in Science told me her cousin was a member of Sum 41. Not just a distant, estranged cousin - they were based in Ontario, Canada, we were in the Suburbs of London (HA massive!) - but close family members, and knew the band. So much so that she was going to be invited to the wedding of singer Deryck Whibley (not her cousin) & Avril Lavigne.

This was about the time Sum 41 broke through with Fat Lip (tune). We were about 12/13(?) at the time. I put this down to adolescent embellishment, as most kids seem to come out with some outrageous claim to fame, and never really thought much more of it. Other than that, she always seemed a very sweet, and funny girl, so even if it was bollocks, it wern’t hurting anyone. Sadly, we’ve lost touch, nothing acrimonious, just don’t move in the same circles anymore. We’ll say hello and be pleasant if we do bump into each other.

Anyway, fast forward to this weekend, and Sum 41 are playing the Main Stage at Reading (thankfully, it seems Deryck Whibley has put his health troubles behind him). What do I see spamming up my Facebook and Instagram pages? A great big

FUCK YOU KRG, YOU DOUBTING PRICK. I REALLY AM RELATED TO HIM

Ok, it wasn’t actually that. But it was photo’s and videos of her watching the band, side of stage, and then photos of her and her cousin, and her with the whole band, backstage.

I was wrong, very wrong. But at least on the other hand, I was mostly a good judge of character, and she was indeed a good girl after all.

Dunno if there is really a moral here, as I still reckon 95% of people that make these sorts of claims (especially as teenagers) are full of shit. But hey, you can all laugh at me being very wrong.

Just ripping off Blur ain’t they

After seeing a song by The Cramps posted by @Won-Ton on the musical chain thread I did a bit of YouTube reminiscing.

This is probably my fave song by them - very B52-esque with hints of Jesus And Mary Chain thrown in:

While looking for that song I also found this, which I never knew they covered, very good:

Today I’ve been listening to loads of Main. If you’re not into drones and sampled feedback, prepare to be bored shitless.

White Denim’s new album arrived today…good so far.

This is a good laugh…

This is a bit Goggle Box, but watching this guy experience Pink Floyd’s Time for the first time is fantastic.

His reaction to the female vocal coming in is wonderful to watch.

There’s something addictive in watching someone enjoy something for the first time, that you know really well.

I’l somehow enjoying it myself - with fresh ears.

I’m lost in this now.

I’m waiting to his reaction to the bits I know will make him react.

It’s wonderful.

Cheers for sharing these @saintbletch, cracking little find. These are really joyous to watch.

I want to be his mate, and share music with him. He seems so sincere and earnest, mixed with his enthusiasm there’s a really infectious positivity to these.

I know what it is.

It’s like being able to play tracks you like to a mate and being able to force them to listen to the end (a practice I’ve long since abandoned as I have musically philistine mates).

He’s not quite sure what to make of Bohemian Rhapsody - or how to say it. Loves the ā€˜change-ups’ though.

It’s also making me realise I need to listen to more Pink Floyd. I know bits, and like what I know - I’ve just never gotten round to properly throwing myself in.
