From Grenfell fire to Fire in the booth, Akala worth a listen:
Stumbled across Bedouineās debut album today, and itās absolutely gorgeous. Some really big influences from the likes of Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, Laura Marling and Kings of Convenience to name a few.
Despagoddammuvvafuckincito
Despabloodtcito.
Everywhere, non stop, and not through choice.
I first heard some Radio 1 DJ trying to sing it on a breakfast show when I came over on holiday end of June. That was almost funneh, but now it seems to mark the last day of normality in my life.
I get in the car, itās on every bloody channel. I tune to Arabic or Hindi? Same song. Go to Talk Radio? They are talking about that goddam song. Itās in the Mall, itās in our little corner shop, it was in the bloody Hospital when I went to get my knee XRayed.
Mrs D_P comes home from work? Clicks You tube and Arrrgh. Every Goddam apartment is playing it at full blast.
WTF?
It just seems that (at least) this part of the world just discovered Jennifer Lopez or something (Latin Euro-Pop maybe a more accurate description) In fact when Mrs D_P clicks that fucking song, You Tube goes on for 5 hundred hours of looping shit that actually sounds the bloody same.
Look I like a bit of Latin, quite partial to a bit of Brazilian, but thatās more Portugese (stop it I know what Bear was thinking)
Anyway now hunched over my laptop headphones on watching Rory at the Golf. Not what I planned but Iām getting to the ppoint where I canāt bear to leave the house in case I hear it again.
Adios
I listen to BBC 6 Music and I havenāt a fuckin clue what youāre talking about.
Same, though sadly krGF is partial to a bit of Radio 1, so it has seeped into my consciousness.
Probably had one of my more unbecoming/grumpy old bastard moments related to this song last week.
Whilst at Lovebox, minding my own business, happily swaying along to Frank Ocean, some fucking idiots start singing this bullshit. Frank was playing a pretty slow, quiet track, and due to their proximity it was more or less drowning out the man Iād shelled out my hard earned (yeah, yeah) Ā£ to see.
In a fit of rage, I may have blurted out something along the lines of āWill you take that shit elsewhere you disrespectful, childish cretins?ā
In hindsight, shouting at a bunch of 15 year old girls probably wasnāt my finest hour. That said, I did get more than a few nods of approval from those around us.
Oh also, I did experience similar in Vietnam @dubai_phil . I thought travelling to Asia, I might escape that cretin Sheeran. How foolish I was.
Shape of You in the hotels at breakfast, cafeās at coffee breaks, every fucking bar, of course the band (who were otherwise very enjoyable) playing covers had a go, on the bus to Halong Bay, at the airport. Everyfuckingwhere.
Piercing my own eardrums came under serious consideration at times.
How was Vietnam (apart from Ed)? Considering it for next year.
Do it Goat. Donāt think about anywhere else.
Try to do full 14 days from South to north and book a tour a day. Exhausting but bloody love the place.
Had a few spare days there for work some years ago used that as the bade for our honeymoon and weāre trying to get back for a quieter beach break later this year.
Worth going even with Ed Sheeran.
Oh and our guide on the Mekong River tour was late 20s Vietnamese lad who was part of a bunch of lads whoād become Saints fans!
Yeah @goatboy , what Phil said tbh. Easily my favourite holiday Iāve been on, absolutely adored the place.
Thereās this thread with some peopleās tips here. Happy to share where I went/what I did too if you do decide to look more into it.
Ditto can send you the itinerary we used. Main issue is the day trips private car with driver & guide is the best but you could coach each day
Not entirely sure what I just watched, but I think I liked it.
Definite CSS/New Young Pony Club vibes.
Also stumbled across this today. Love the juxtaposition of Sharon van Ettenās broody voice on track like this.
