and we field a 2nd string team and will sell our best players in the summer, so what is the point? Why don’t we just survive? Its pointless to try anymore as we admit our ceiling has been reached, shameful and deceitful, why don’t they come out and say
Been barrd off there, grassing snake like site that.
Still think this is gonna be the all time best ever saints season tbh! You won’t believe me now, but when we win cup treble, you will remember me saying this, and you will come back and say, sry bear, sry les reed
If that happens you can bum me whilst Phillip Hammond watches.
Can I be allowed to not watch?
Well that was shameful and fucking crap, plsy the first team, I’ve have sadi this since the start, fucking shameful.
That fucking Martina. Pure pony. What a whopper…multiculturalism…ad nauseum
Fuck fuck shit fuck. I burnt an entire month of Brownie points to allowed down the pub to watch that.
Happy to never see Redmond in a Saints shirt again. JROD out on loan to Wessex League quick.
Honestly that performance was as shocking as the 2 live bands they had wailing away.
Players should refund travel cost of every fan.
Who grassed you up and for what?
The signing of Lallana.
Oh well. Fuck it.
If you offered us home to Be’er Sheva with a win or a 0-0 required to progress at the start of the campaign we’d have probably all taken it.
Granted, this was a clearly winnable group and we could have had the whole thing wrapped up by now, but meh. What’s done is done.
If we go out I will be seriously miffed, but if we go through in 2nd I’ll settle for that. Lets just hope Puel learns from this.
Point is we should have won. Should top the group & should have avoided a UCL team in the next round
While I can understand Cedric just coming back from injury we needed to change something at HT.
Huge fuck up tonight.
No, we didn’t play well at all and we’ve clearly got problems going forward, but ultimately this shouldn’t prove too costly in the long run.
Finishing second isn’t a particularly big deal in terms of facing a CL/group-winning side. If the worst comes to the worst it’ll still mean an exciting tie against potentially glamourous, yet possibly beatable opponents (the likes of Ajax, Roma etc.) but if your primary concern is to go as far as possible in the tournament, we’re equally likely to get someone like Genk, Anderlecht, Apoel Nicosia, Osmanlispor, Basel, Ludogorets, Rostov, FC Copenhagen, Monchengladbach, Besiktas - all of whom look like they’ll be seeded teams in the Ro32 (by virtue of winning their groups or being third-placers in the CL) and all of whom could be classed as easier ties.
There isn’t a possible opponent that’s a complete brick wall to progression in the same way that the likes of Bayern/Barca have been to Arsenal in the Champions League for the past couple of years.
The absolute worst we could get from a pure difficulty perspective are Roma/Fiorentina/Shaktar/Zenit/Schalke/Ajax/Sporting Lisbon/Lyon - and frankly none of them scare me any more than any of the Big 6 in the Prem.
Perhaps we aren’t good enough?..
It was always going to be tough competing on all fronts and the modern game requires rotation.
Would we swap last night for defeats against Liverpool and Everton?
The Premier League status has to be maintained, we cannot throw everything at Europe.
The Europa League has always been the equivalent of catching VD every other Thursday, Everton, Spurs and several others have struggled with league form as a result of competing.
If there is blame, for me it’s individual players who haven’t stepped up.
On paper we have a full set of strikers but one looks like it’s over for him, one doesn’t do pace, one isn’t fit, another is out of position and none look like they can finish at the moment.
Puel has to walk a fine line and pick a team good enough to win games - he’s done it before, last night I suspect the players let him down.
i don’t think we kicked the ball very good, or in particularly good directions throughout the match. What we need to do is start kicking the ball better, and in more appropriate directions, if we want to progress in this competition (and in all competitions). I can’t stress enough the importance of kicking the ball well and in good directions.
Do you think we should put Bazza on a “Suicide Watch” every time we lose a game. I’m seriously concerned he’s going to self-harm.
Only if he’s stressed.
I thought Martina had a good game.
Haha…yep that should do it…you take the 9 to 12 watch…I’ll do the afternoon 'til 4pm.
All the papers have got Martina as man of the match. Thought he was alright, but I didn’t think he was all that much better than Redmond, but I spose I will defer to the Experts on this.
