Watford Vs Southampton - Match Thread 4/3/17

Just watched brief highlights.

Fair play to Redmond. I give him a lot of shit but his first goal was very good. How he moved the ball and took it forward as much as anything.

Gabbiadini - love his anticipation for that goal. Proper instincts that.

I am a big fan of Sam Gallagher and look forward to seeing him in our squad pre-season

Of course, but does he meet Klopp’s criteria? Is he a ‘press at all costs’ type player, for example? I don’t think so so they’ll go for some expensive show-pony who won’t match up to expectation (possibly). He’s not a big name so the Mancs won’t want him, Man City won’t want him because he doesn’t speak Spanish, Arsenal won’t want him because he scores goals, etc. With no apologies to the Arsenal fans who might see this.

Sorry to be cynical and all and he might well have left the Watford player for dead but the photo doesn’t show it does it (angles, slowed down shutter speed etc). On a more interesting note, can MLG tell us how fast Gabbiadini is at speed and acceleration based on his game’s figures?

Just put this up as my desktop background

My eyes hurt !!

Vote up for the picture of Caceres hill starting on Athelstan Road (why not though, loads of us bloody well had to).

Hope so. Very good player already, can only expect him to get better.

My uncle had a pre-war Morris back in the '50s. I remember my cousins, brother and I having to get out at the bottom of the steepest part of Athelstan and walk to the top and get back in when he managed to coax it to the top.

'Tis the bane of the new Southampton driver. You’re in a motor that a family member insists is a good runaround, except it’s a one litre and the clutch is fucked.

If he carries on scoring like he has done, there’s every chance people will come sniffing around. People are pragmatic, and one of the biggest problems, the fact that he doesn’t speak English, will be on the way to being solved.

Here we disagree. A goalscorer is a goalscorer, and while I understand that there are exceptions, and that no-one will ever take a punt on Andy Carroll at a high price, a foreign import that hit the ground running will be of interest to several clubs.

Contract up at the end of the season. I reckon we may have missed the boat. A shame really, after Charlie got injured we couldn’t buy a goal, and there is Sammy scoring for fun at Blackburn. So frustrating. We did all the work in developing him, and another team reaping the benefit. I personally think he will go to one of our rivals, could come back to bite us in the arse.

I remember the same in a 50’s Ford Prefect. Never saw my elderly Grandma move so quick when the car drifted backwards.

Always have a smile when driving up there in a modern mobile.

Jack Stephens will play for England.

Sure he needs a few years and experience yet & isn’t ready to be a 1st choice, but that interception move & ball to set up Redmond to create the goal had the Arabic tater on my stream drooling.

That kid is class.

Don’t know if Puel changed something or the players are gelling better but we moved that ball so much better today.Probanly because we now have a threat in Gabba

Happy days

we’re 4th on MOTD.

3-4 and the game is shown fourth.

Liverpool first then I think its Swansea/Burnley and then Leicester.

I’m almost ready to end my swf exile and post on the tv tax thread

And end the mystery of who is @fatso ?

Do you realise how many minutes of Sotonians pub time have been devoted to this topic?

I think you’re being very unfair :lou_wink_2:

I believe Gallagher still has 20 months to run on his contract…hopfully matters already in hand to renew

Kidnap him and hide him behind the fridge until he does.

As for Stephens: very good player; still think he’ll be a midfielder though. Would be interesting to see him play with VVD.

5th trip back in 10 years to watch Saints and have always seen them win a game. We were our own worst enemy at times but I think we were so much better than them for most of the game we got a little bit cocky and nearly paid the price. If only we had Gabbiadini from the start of the season. We just need to release the ball a fraction sooner and trust him to do his job.
