Ok, to stop this thread turning into Holiday 2015 with Cliff Michelmore, I thought I’d chat about VvD instead.
Pat Nevin described him as the signing of the transfer deadline day, and said he felt he was similar to David Luiz. ie a ball playing CB who wants to make forward runs and also a bit of a free kick specialist.
Sounds interesting. Anyway, anybody want to share any holiday snaps here?

I went to a fancy dress party dressed as Virgil once (the Thunderbird not the central defender).
Got away with having no ticket on the train by telling the inspector that I didn’t need one as I was defending the earth.
It may have been my quip that deterred him from pursuing the matter.
Or it may have been the 6 foot 4 Andy Pandy next to me.

talksport today talking about Virgil joining Chelsea and saying that Arsenal are upset because they’ve offered him the most money (£150k) but he’s chosen Chelsea. Where are they getting this stuff from? How can teams be offering him deals when no deal has been agreed or permission given? It’s as if its got nothing to do with Southampton. It makes me angry to hear nonsense being spoken by people with no idea - Micky Quinn was saying the only question mark over Virgil is his fitness…what because he’s had one injury after vardy stamped on him?

I agree with you Fatso, but he’s one of the top 3 CB’s in the league and is going to attract loads of interest and we all know what avaricious agents are like in turining players heads.
He’s immense for us and I’d be very disappointed to see him sold this summer. I know big bucks could be coming our way, but if it the case he goes I hope Reed doesn’t fuck about playing the long transfer game in order to save tuppence ha’penny on a transfer fee by signing a replacement 2 days before the end of August. If Puel is still in charge, at the very least he needs to have his squad in place at the startof pre season.

Just in case he needed it, there is now added pressure on Claude to beat Liverpool on Sunday then. Knock the wankers out of the top four. We might have to roll over for Arsenal as well though. I doubt that will be a problem…
