Why do you even need to declare that on your voting registration.
Heartening to hear someone who has changed their mind but agree it may be a 2nd term. Finges crossed he doesn’t change it so he can be president u till.his death ans his family can take over after.
His recent racist comments and chants of send her home at last nights rally =
Billy Bragg is on poor form on Facebook today. He rightfully condemns the chanting supporters, but went a bit too far when he tried to link it with some Brexit voters and the situation here.
The UK is not the US. By and large, we don’t live in segregation, whereas by and large, American citizens do. We are one of the most tolerant nations in the world. The US is one of the most divided.
Finally, there’s a distinct difference in the folk that Trump is playing to and the audience on this side of the pond. I just don’t think white people in the UK feel anywhere near as threatened about the prospect of people mixing.
We have also gotten much more tolerant over the last 40 years. In the first attitude study conducted in 1982, around 80% of parents would mind if their child had a partner of a different race. That same question attracts something like 12% now.
Got a lot of respect for the fella, but I think he’s wide of the mark on this.
Hmmm.
Perhaps today, but right now from outside it does seem like Boris et al are hell bent on returning the mind set to the early 70s.
Next up you’ll have to wear Doc Martin’s to football & shave your heads.
Cameron and May already did that (what’s the difference between May’s"Go Home" and Trump’s “Go back where you came from”?)
Pfeffel and Mog are heading for the early 30s.
Ok, so here is my “one time only” post on the subject. I doubt I’ll be seen as Dale Carnegie after this but hey ho.
Trump, to me, is the face of a movement. Question is, what is that movement?
Could it be the case of “Red pill, blue pill” in that to break the cycle of all things that are (let’s face it) evil, the truth is so confronting that one can’t possibly comprehend it, let alone accept it. If, as I suspect, everything in our society today is created to enslave us, keep us melancholy, to stop us from being who we are truly meant to be, then Trump is doing the business in shining a light on all these downfalls.
On the flip side, he could be all those points you have raised in previous posts and to a degree, it is possibly accurate.
Although Bob Dylan went to the Crossroads to achieve fame and fortune, he has always asked us the tough questions through his music and the one I have always lived my life by is from ‘Desolation Row’ and he simply asks “which side are you on?”. Simple question that I take the worldview on as “Good or evil” and this is where I believe with all my might that Trump is on the side of good.
Methods are questionable but the whole truth and nothing but the truth could not be unveiled onto the populace without careful planning as to not freak them out. I understand we are seeing this now (the freak out) but my point is, can you imagine all this information coming out to you in the space of a week (for example)?
So, I’m not saying I support all Trump says and does but like the Art of War, everything is done for a reason and I believe and hope and pray that he is doing it all in the name of Good.
Oooh a bit early to reply to that without a bit of consideration but the early votes in are that Tango Man is not on the side of good. His version of capitalism maybe if that floats your boat, but not good for anyone else. I’ll think about it some more
The conundrum put most eloquently @Cobham-Saint.
We the people WANT to break the system. Not Democracy, but the special interests lobbyists and in Washington especially, the system.
We know it doesn’t do much for us.
Equally, every Republican is always evil. How we (& Spitting Image) mocked Reagan who’d imaginary Star Wars finally helped break the Communist system.
Trump could and should have broken it, I do agree.
Unfortunately I dont believe he is intellectually or morally capable and has now got the wrong people around him.
Echoes the view of the ex Trump supporter I took to Budapest last Monday I guess.
Trump is awful, but is he worse than George W?
Sorry Phil… Trump’s best con is he IS the system. as with all the others, all he is interested is himself and the wealth of his cronies… he is dismantling many environmental and workers right safeguards put in place by ‘the system’ in order to line his own pockets. Its easy to be a ‘man of the people’ by taking easy options… such as creating jobs by removing ‘red tape’ but if that red tape exists to safeguard the bigger picture… then its being a cunt… end of. NO defence is possible for cunts like Trump
