Like Trump or not, he is actually doing things politicians don’t do, and that is doing things they say or being assertive for their Nation, the Chinese have been doing that for years under a very different system, he has some points on NATO and Australias lack of commitment on refugees (people would help themselves if they looked at their policy).
Sorry could you confirm what you meant there? Is it that Australia treats aslum seekers appallingly?
How long will he like us? He swings from one whim to another. So if May steps out of line/ says the wrong thing then maybe we will be persona no grata.
I don’t like the man, but its sheep jumping on the anti Trump bandwagon, its boring, its a new concept for a Nation to turn inwards but it will show to the World how much we took the US for granted, NATO for example?
He’s already changed his mind about that after a few hours with May. He really instils confidence. And only an idiot would describe expressing concerns about the capabilities of the leader of the free world as “boring” and jumping on a “bandwagon”.
Pol Pot is hardly a good example, if you want to discuss revolutionary countryside warfare on communist/socialist/marxist (Ireland/Cuba) lines we can but comparing Trump to Pol is a poor example.
I wasn’t comparing Pol Pot to Trump. I was saying, pretty clearly I thought, that you made the ridiculous point that “at least he’s doing what he said he would” and that is not necessarily a good thing. Pol Pot did what he said he was going to do and the outcome was pretty shitty. If Pol Pot was still in charge now, you’d be going around saying “like Pot or not, he’s doing what he said he would”.

What if what they say is bollocks? Or does that not matter, as long as they do what they said they were going to?
“Say what you like about Pol Pot, he said he would create a classless society and he did”

So you are comparing him? Pot came to power how, and Trump?
I’m NOT comparing the two leaders - I am saying that YOUR statement about Trump doing what he said he would is a stupid one. Just because he’s doing what he said he would that doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. I understand that that one was elected and one was a revolution, thats not the point - the point is you can’t praise someone just because they did what they said they would. Sometimes people do stupid/bad/evil things because they said they would, thats not something to celebrate.
I’m still struggling with his post about Australia and asylum seekers that Intiniki highlighted. I’m still not sure what " people would help themselves if they looked at their policy" actually means.
I know about the processing camps and the abuses. I know about Trump refusing the asylum seekers that were agreed by Obama. I read stuff. So do quite a few other people here.
But your sentence didn’t make sense. This is the issue sometimes, we just don’t understand your sentence structure. Take a breath before sending off a response because often we just cannot make out what you’ve written.
So why for the last few years have we not protested about Turnbull meeting the Queen when Australia has an arguably worse system in place? The Queen meeting the Chinese, Tibet anyone? Seems opportunistic.
