I don’t think you can credibly describe May’s government as right of centre. It’s to the right of Cameron, who himself, is to the right of Thatcher. Maybe if we reset our politics to exclude everything except the last six years, they’d seem that, but compared to anything else, including predecessor governments, they’re much farther to the right. Probably the most right wing government in my living memory. Thatcher wouldn’t dare touch the NHS in her day.
What a dark little period in British politics. It’s the 21st century, and it seems we’ve learned nothing, a Conservative government reheating the policies of 2015 UKIP and 1930s fear-of-the-other-merchants in one swift stroke.
Let’s hope the British public are wise enough to see through it and principled enough to rise above it.
I can’t wait to we’re out of the EU and then we can send the foreign muck back and be done with it. No need to count how many each company employs when there’s none left. And it will make the NHS less stretched and there will be more houses for us all.
Now i believe you’re of at least average intelligence so i can only assume you don’t actually know the answer or are too embarrassed to admit it. If you don’t know the answer, just admit it’s a line you’ve been fed so much, you just repeat and believe it without even considering what it means. You’d hardly be the first person.

I don’t have time, I’m busy and it’s no longer lunchtime so I don’t want to spend my time looking for an irrelevant question. Repeat the question if you want me to answer it.
Classic Tory bilge. I can’t be arsed to address what bullshit this post is other than, in short, it makes you look like a cunt. Which you surely aren’t.
Again, I’m not even offended by this, just incredibly confused. I’ve asked what most people would consider fairly standard questions and I literally can’t understand the visceral hatred they generate. I certainly can’t understand why you’d take the time to respond, yet not answer why the two policies I mentioned are so heartless and cruel. Why not take the time to educate me? Even out of pure self-interest, you could win your team a vote.
I say again; people just aren’t as outraged as you think they should be - and when they ask genuine questions which beget nothing but abuse they shrug their shoulders and pootle off to the voting booths.
It’s all well and good calling someone a cunt and saying their post is rubbish, but when you’re not outlining why it makes you look like a cunt. Which you surely aren’t.
My guess is that a lot of people on the left simply don’t _believe _that people like me exist; as in, people who really are politically in the centre and support Tory policy not out of being either rich, callous or tribal but rightly or wrongly, just simply support Tory policy because they honestly think the policies are fair and reasonable - and therefore don’t feel in the least bit guilty about it.
I mean, this thread is a perfect example. I’ve gone out of my way to pick out a couple of contentious Tory policies that I think are actually quite fair and have some decent arguments to back them up, and I’ve got nothing but the silent contempt of downvotes and one little barrel of abuse.
I thought the Labour party were a bastion of politeness and civility? I find the whole thing incredibly confusing.
Welcome to being a Conservative. You have to have thick skin, as the ‘more tolerant’ left wingers throw insults around like confetti, but don’t worry, you live in what us Tories like to call, ‘The real world’. It’s not the nicest place, but that’s life.
I have a colleague who is foreign. She was worried before Brexit and had told me the talk of foreigners taking up housing and jobs (by other senseless colleagues) had upset her. She’s been here over 10 years. She has been working supporting some of the most vulnerable in society. Like a lot of foreign workers. Quite frankly I am not sure why I am having to say they are foreign. They’re workers. Mandatory reporting feels uncomfortable and draconian to me. Are we going to have them wearing badges next?
Re 23k cap for benefits. Yeah sounds sort of reasonable. It’s a few grand under the average wage. But then it depends where you live. How many you are supporting. We could get dien a route of you cannotnhave kids until you can afford them. That would mean none being born really.
As Mr Trampoline has said in another post he needs more than average wage to live on and feel happy in his lot. Then so may lots of others. I don’t see many well paid jobs for some of those who haven’t quite done well enough for uni etc. I see the work they’re offered on not the greatest wage in London. Then they will have housing benefit paid to the council if lucky but more and more to private landlords. They also get a top up for their low wages if they’re lucky. So some may think why should I bust a gut at mcdonalds for not a lot. You think you’d do something different? Then there are pexpletives who can’t work for health reasons. Should they live in poverty because we think work is more important then health?
I know I am a right lefties but I really don’t see the squawking of the left at everything the right do. Is it not more that as a right winger that’s how it’s perceived.
And I do think we shouldn’t get into being abusive towards each other if we disagree. That just makes no sense and makes us look like idiots.
