:tories: Tories in trouble?

And, if it ever needed proving that Cameron doesn’t have a fucking clue how the world works. He’s been asking the council of his local constituency to “look again” at "devastating cuts":

Prime minister David Cameron has once again advised the Conservative leaders of his local council to “look again” at its budget proposals after the council’s leader announced £69m of planned savings for this Parliament.

In a letter sent to Oxfordshire County Council, in response to its cabinet’s warning of the “devastating impact” of cuts, the prime minister said he understood it will be challenging to make further needed savings – but urged it to reconsider its plans.

“Oxfordshire and other councils must continue to reform the way they work to become more efficient, both in back-office functions and in front-line service delivery,” he said in a statement today.

Not the first time the dozy pig fucker has done this either.

I think Mr Hameron needs to take his own advice and stop associating solely with people just like him, with similar backgrounds. It clearly has bred extremism within him.

*Sorry pap. This may show why I am not an artist.

The thing I don’t understand is how the Tories can be so ideologically driven in their policy yet also completely fucking clueless - like they’ll stop at nothing to achieve their goals but don’t actually have the first idea about how to get there.

A sudden spike in the number of mental health patients dying unexpectedly in NHS care has prompted calls for a wide-ranging investigation into “threadbare” services that are “struggling to cope”.

New NHS figures show that the number of deaths annually among mental health patients in England has risen 21% over the last three years from 1,412 to 1,713.

Figures obtained by Norman Lamb, the Liberal Democrat MP, show that the overall number of “serious incidents” – involving unexpected or avoidable deaths, serious harm, injury and abuse – has climbed 34% to 8,139 a year. They have become so common that one trust, North East London foundation trust, had a total of 633 last year – almost two a day.

Lamb, the mental health minister in the coalition until last May, made the comparison with the Mid Staffordshire scandal in which hundreds of patients died as a result of poor care over a four-year period.

“Significant numbers of unexpected deaths at the Mid Staffs NHS trust caused an outcry and these figures should cause the same because they show a dramatic increase in the number of people losing their lives,” Lamb said.

Many of us, including Cherts, have weighed into this one before. Fucking ridiculous.

The NHS spent £17.8million in a year on agency midwives – the cost of 511 staff.

Figures obtained by the Royal College of Midwives show the figure rose from £10million between 2012 and 2014.

One trust spent £4,482,432 and 11 spent more than £1million in that period.

Shadow Public Health Minister Andrew Gwynne blasted David Cameron for breaking a vow to recruit 3,000 midwives adding: “Ministers cannot keep ignoring warning signs. They need to set out how they intend to tackle staff shortages.”

Happening with social workers too. As they get fed up of how their local authority is being run or the stress they leave, then if the local authority has a bad rep it’s hard to recruit permanent staff so they get agency. Many of the agency staff used to be permanent but got fed up with poor pay, little progression, and being tied inot a shit authorit. I did get a bursary for training and as with the nurses there are many people who go to study the course later in life with kids so they won’t be able to do that now. They are bringing in a teach first style training looking for people with first degrees to train. They may not have the people skills to do the job.

Just an observation on the thread title - while it’s nice to highlight the corruption, cruelty and ineptitude which is there in abundance for all to see, I’m not sure the Tories are actually in Trouble.

It’s a reasonable observation, which is why the thread title has a question mark at the end.

But you’re right; they’re not, and they really should be. There is no way a Corbyn-friendly MP would have been given the same hands-off treatment that Lucy Allan seems to have benefited from. The one bright spark; the employment figures, is dimmed by the fact that it’s not actually making that much difference to the lives of individuals. Personal debt is up, people are relying on state handouts to make a “working” living.

They are fantastic at shifting the agenda, or at the very least, framing it so that people only tend to see one viewpoint. I’m not sure they’re actually in trouble either.

Beautiful.

If you want to raise the ire of every Muslim woman in Britain, just try and suggest they are ‘submissive’.

Go on… we dare you.

Well this is exactly what David Cameron did, saying earlier this week that learning English will tackle the ‘traditional submissiveness of Muslim women’, which suggests he doesn’t actually know that many Muslim women IRL.

In response, people across the UK took to Twitter last night and used the hashtag #TraditionallySubmissive to turn his comments on their head.

Margaret Thatcher’s government reportedly tried to stop Nelson Mandela receiving an honorary degree at the University of Lancaster from a member of the royal family.

According to documents shown to _the Times, _Richard Luce, a former foreign office minister and now a crossbench peer, lobbied the university to “quietly drop” proposals in 1982 for Princess Alexandra to honour Mr Mandela. The manoeuvring was kept secret at the National Archives until now.

Baroness Thatcher had previously dismissed the African National Congress (ANC) as “a typical terrorist organisation” and refused to back sanctions against the South African government that pursued the notorious policy of apartheid.

Some peers need to be muzzled for their own sake.

Some of his points are of course true, but there is no need to say it, especially when the Government is cutting benefits to unmanageable amounts. 5 years ago, maybe say it. Not now

He did one good thing. Someone else stood up in the HoL and reminded him that 2/3 of kids in poverty have at least one working parent. This really isn’t about scrounging. It’s about working people not being able to afford their kids, and that’s not fucking on.

True dat. And that is not rewarding ‘hardworking people’, Mr Cameron.

Tories lose Court of Appeal cases on Bedroom tax :-

The so-called bedroom tax has been declared discriminatory by Court of Appeal judges, following a legal challenge by a domestic violence victim and the family of a disabled teenager.

They had argued that the spare room subsidy - which reduces housing benefit for social housing tenants with a “spare” bedroom - is discriminatory.

The Court of Appeal decision followed a hearing in November.

The government has said it will appeal against the ruling.

Again one of those ideas that, maybe, just maybe, was good in principal has been ruined by the unthinking, uncaring attitude of the people that blindly stick to the rules!

How is it possible people who work don’t have enough money for their children? Its a modern day crime, higher and fairer taxes.

I’m only guessing but could it be that some find that their wages aren’t sufficient to pay for food and housing?

The real problem is when they decide that they have tried to work but may be able to get more money by not working.

Either way I wouldn’t want a priviliged 89 year old buffoon who knows little of real life in 2016, preaching to me about poverty.

Pretty fucking dire state of affairs that we are currently relying on the Lords to reign in these rapacious cunts. Fair play to them though, they are kicking arse at the minute.

Wish voters would realise these terrible meffs are entirely fixated on dismantling all social structures which 95% of the country need and rely on. I fear what is going to be left after 5 years of these rapids idiots let loose on the country, christ knows where they go from there.
