Shame she didn’t put as much effort into being an MP

So the country has a new Defence Secretary. In his infinite wisdom Rishi Sunak deems a man who used three fake names in order to pose as a ā€œmillionaire web marketerā€, running a dodgy get-rich-quick scheme, and then lied about it for three years a suitable and trustworthy person to put in charge of overseeing the defence and security of the country.
Step forward Grant Shapps aka Michael Green aka Corinne Stockheath aka Sebastian Fox.
I can only think Sunak is either taking the piss or is genuinely incompetent and doesn’t care one way or the other, probably a mixture of both. After all his only real priority is doing the bidding of his father-in-law and Mr Modi. I can just imagine the thigh slapping and howls of laughter in the HQ of NATO at the news of the appointment though! To think we’ve got another year of this shit show to put up with, someone please make it stop!

Be honest - you would have got stuck into any Tory MP who Rishi appointed, Shapps just made it a little easier

And right on cue here you are to defend ā€œRishiā€. You have no idea whether I would have got stuck into any other Tory MP who your hero appointed, you just made that up. The fact remains that Shapps is a con man, totally unsuited for the job, even the former chief of the general staff of the British Army, Lord Dannatt has damned him saying Shapps knows very little about defence. From Sunak’s point of view Shapps is a yes man who won’t rock his boat, that’s all that matters to him. I’m sure there are a few Conservative MPs who would have been far more qualified than Shapps to take the Defence brief, who I would judge on their merits. And yes, of course Shapps does make it easy, but that doesn’t mean I am wrong. With respect, you are being gaslit by these conmen, and I include Sunak in that. In a years time he will be in California, there is no way he will be interested in a role as a backbench opposition MP. By then of course goodness knows how much more damage he will have done to our country, stripping our assets at the bidding of his father-in-law and the nasty little fascist Modi.

Lol - I’m not defending ā€œmy heroā€ - I’m just taking the piss

You need to chill out or you will blow a gasket

Cue ā€œdont tell me to chill out whilst your mates ruin the country etcā€ type of post

Did Carol get overlooked for a damehood or something? She had been on the warpath for quite a while now

She used to be on the inside and it seems that in the last year or so she has gone berserk

Given how many do get suspended / convicted (and I include politicians from all hues) you have to wonder why - it certainly is a greater proportion that in most other walks of life (with maybe the exception of scaffolders)

is it the fact that they are motivated by power and in the end that gets the better of them? Are they corrupted by the Westminster system with too many people blowing smoke up their arses? I has to be something

They’re probably of the type who can’t function or hold down a proper job in the real world - though to be fair there are some MPs who actually want to make a difference (in a good way).

Getting rodded by five different blokes on a rota basis is probably taking it’s toll.

It comes to something when GB News has to bring in the clowns:

I genuinely don’t know anyone who gets their news from there. From the few times I’ve looked at it (& came away feeling grubby) it seemed a comedy show, so I guess Johnson will fit right in.

So much for Hancock trying to rehabilitate himself as a media personality before this came out.

Odious.

Some people have no shame (a prerequisite of being a Tory minister by all accounts).

FFS - again Tory MPs not fit for purpose. I’m sure other non-Tory MPs are as bad, but come on, the Tory party need to decimate the parliamentary Tory party. It’s gone beyond embarrassing
