If he can’t read that Johnson is a busted flush, then he’s pretty dumb and i’d question his competence, particularly knowing that No 10 would roll him out first thing in the morning and the first interviews he’d do would all be about Johnson going. Until he goes, the whole media circus is going to be about when he goes. Zahawi seemed woefully ill prepared to be able to deal with that.

So Gove has surfaced and is telling Johnson he has to go.

A mate saw Gove at the ENO last night “looking distracted”

Probably planning a power grab depending on how today panned out.

Talk in Westminster that Zahawi’s business affairs won’t stand up to any kind of scrutiny. Regardless of whether Johnson goes or not, he could be the shortest serving Chancellor in history. And if ‘disgraced former Defence Secretary’ Liam Fox is calling for Johnson’s head the game is surely up.

Is that Liam Fox the law breaker??

“Conservative MPs say that they have heard from party whips that there are now no MPs prepared to fill the vacant positions from those who have resigned en masse.”

This is more partygate but prescient. Am sure one based on today will arrive soon.

A couple more gone - tbf fair it is getting a bit boring now - unless a round dozen resign in one go, its not new(s) any more

BREAKINGCabinet ministers on the way to tell PM time is up

Ione Wells

Westminster Correspondent, BBC News

As we’ve just told you, a group of cabinet ministers are on their way to tell Boris Johnson it’s time to go.

Welsh Secretary Simon Hart is one of them. He made it clear to No 10 yesterday that it was “game over” but it shouldn’t have to come by ministerial resignations.

Funny you should say that…
