Zlatan Ibrahimovic ignited a bidding war for his signature between the Premier League’s richest clubs.
He is already past it so why would we want him in our league?
He is only looking for a quick milllion squid if the top teams let him stay where he is not only would it send a message that the “cant recall what league its called now” is not a cash cow it could actually lower prices.
Appreciate the sentiment but it’s a very subjective term. What is mercenary about a proven striker considering competing offers from various clubs? And to a certain extent, couldn’t you call every player that moves to a more lucrative contract at another club a mercenary, or indeed a player that wants more money to stay on at a club?
This is all mercenary behaviour by some definition. Players aren’t putting the consideration of club and fans over their own. Sometimes those interests beautifully coincide, and you get a one club man, but you can bet your arse that if a club tried to keep a superstar on a boot cleaner training scheme salary he would be off at the end of his contract, earning loads more.
I tend to reserve the most ire for complete bastards that orchestrate their transfers their clubs do not want to happen through the back pages. I think Southampton FC feels the same
Yes, Zlatan is a cocky bollocks, but if anyone has earned the right to be, it’s him.
