Any UFC fans out there?

Conor McGregor won the UFC title overnight.

He is close to transcending the sport already. Great result.

As Rust would attest, I like UFC, but if I watch it late at night I struggle to get rid of the adrenalin so that I can sleep.

It really find it gets under my skin in a way that Boxing doesn’t. For that reason, I think it must be the purest form of contact sport - and this from a man that has watched and enjoyed boxing all his life.

That’s not to say I enjoy every fight, I’m not enough of a student of the sport to be able to understand/enjoy the wrestling/jujitsu stuff.

I’ll ‘choke you out’ next time we meet up. You’ll enjoy it.

I upvoted your post in anticipation of Fatso downvoting it.

Hello Rust Cohle. In honour of securing your participation, I have watched the first fight from last night’s PPV. A gypsy woman was legally selling copies door to door. One hell of a coincidence, that. Anyway, it is my opinion that the EastEnder wasn’t quite sparked, and that he didn’t think he was either. Was the ref correct to stop the fight?

He was definitely right ro stop the fight. He wasn’t able to defend himself and would’ve therefore taken more unanswered punches despite its reputation it’s actually a lot safer than boxing in my humble opinion. The refs are very quick to step in plus due to the smaller gloves a good punch will usually end things rather than the cumulative effect from the larger gloves in boxing.

I’ve now seen all of the recent PPV. I’ve watched bits and pieces before, but never anything with quite the prolonged intensity that had. Have to admit, I’m not quite sure where I stand on the safety issue. These people are getting proper broken. Most that appeared in UFC 189 are now suspended from further action until they’re completely checked out.

Rory MacDonald’s “fractured” nose looked more like a “non-existent” nose by the end of his scrap with Lawler.
