🛠❓ The Technical Support Thread

Dunno - Set up a new chat?

Mrs P_F found the solution.
I will never live that down I thought.
Then realised she called one of her Tech Support team and it took him 10 minutes to work it out!]

Are you certain they’re on WhatsApp themselves? And that the number you have for them is the one they use for WhatsApp?

Oh yes.
It’s even GDPR Compliant as it’s Rydee Cup stuff.
It turned out to be a bug on my old Samsung had to update the software and then contacts started to share the number with WhatsApp
Annoying but now in contact with 5 of my 6 team members
100 days to go!

My “Bitdefender” security software has just stopped me getting onto the site:

I got in by searching Google for the forum but my Chrome browser bookmark is blocked.

…ah. Did you by chance happen to open any of the links I sent you?

Yeah it was a weirder link than the ones you sent me.
I had to delete the browser bookmark and make a new one.

I’ve warned everyone before not to open links from @scotty - if you value your relationships and/or sanity

I may be repeating myself here. But, as we all know, you aren’t supposed to leave your mobile charging after it’s full because doing so damages or weakens the battery, right? And in order to mitigate this, several of my phones have had a built-in system that “learns” what time you plug the charger in at night and what time you unplug it in the morning. It then intelligently adjusts the charging rate, aiming to reach full charge just as one awakens from one’s slumber.

This has the unwelcome effect of leaving the bastard thing undercharged on the exact occasions that you’re likely to need it fully charged and ready to go, for example if there’s an early ship to do or you’re leaving early on a long journey. So, my question to the techies is this.

If the makers can throttle the charging rate to work towards your waking time, and given that every phone always knows precisely how full the battery is as demonstrated by its battery display, why in the name of Christ can it not just charge at the fastest rate as soon as it’s plugged in, then simply cut off the charging circuit when it’s full? Instead of bloating it up with predictive software trying and failing to figure out how long you’re going to sleep?? FFS. :rage::rage:

I leave mine on charge as much as possible the battery has not exploded and I dont expect it to. When not on charge ie I am travelling the battery is fine never goes to recharge me battery level 15% which actually means 1 more day

Mine doesn’t last a full day now, though it did when I first got it. I’m not worried about it exploding, but overcharging supposedly makes the battery life deteriorate faster.

I was always told that charging the phone when it’s not necessary, ie when it still has say 50% battery life, is bad for it and shortens the battery life. I have my doubts as to whether or not these so called ‘tips’ are all bollocks to be honest. I rather fancy they are.

I think that mainly applies when the battery is new. But there must be something about leaving it charging when it’s charged up, because manufacturers go to some lengths to address it.

Wtf?

I think in layman’s terms I suspect you’ve worn it out.

See down the bottom there where it says Knox Version?

Well, that means you’ve fucked it and then killed it.

Is it possible to send anonymous Facebook messages - so it shows up as “Facebook user” and not your name

Some one in our family has been the subject of some malicious messages but the screen shots we have seen of these alleged messages have the above user name and not the real id

We are trying to work out is it is genuine or the person passing it on has somehow fabricated it (distinct possibility)

I run a local FB Group and members can post anonymously just by selecting that option instead of their name. However as Admin for the group I can see who has made the post.
If your family member is having trouble in a group they should report the posts to admin or if an open post, they need to set their post to friends only.
I never/rarely post in open forums.
I’ve never had any problems with FB.

BTW They aren’t shown as “Facebook user” so if it shows that it’s fake.
