“I was playing in a tournament for Swindon when Southampton and Chelsea showed an interest. Chelsea invited me to be a ball-boy for a game against Liverpool and it was fantastic to meet my heroes Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler. I was a Liverpool fan simply because my dad followed them. No inconsistencies at all, I said if we got him for free it’d be good , we’re getting him for less than 50% wages and he’s surrendered his bonus’s so it’s a positive, the players we’ve got are ok, we’ve done ok but its the players we haven’t got that say an awful lot more.
