Ordinarily I’d agree but loaning him to a rival would be odd and we tend to only loan out the deadwood. He still has a role to play, even as a backup so unless we are getting a fee from a permanent offer, I can’t see it. Would also be dependent on us getting another CB in.
Hopefully one that can do 100m in less than 45s & could turn round in the Solent…
He’s a West Ham type of signing anyway, tbh. The bigger the lump the better they like him, I swear they buy their players by the pound.

Southampton interested in Toulouse defensive midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré
The 22-year-old would offer defensive support and be seen as a direct replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who left for Tottenham

Southampton are looking at a deal for Ivory Coast and Toulouse midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré to bolster Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad ahead of the transfer window closing.
The 22-year-old was relegated from Ligue 1 last season and will be sold for the right price, with just one year left on his deal meaning the French club risk losing him for nothing in nine months.
He is seen as a direct replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who left for Tottenham in a deal worth £15million. Given Toulouse’s relegation to the second-tier, they could be tempted by a £7million deal.
Sangaré has been on Southampton’s radar previously and has been tracked by them last season when Toulouse finished bottom of the table in the season stopped short following the coronavirus pandemic.
He has been at Stadium De Toulouse his entire professional career, breaking into the first team four years ago and earning caps for his country.
Hasenhuttl is yet to replace Hojbjerg following the departure of the Denmark international, who was his captain last season. They have lost to Crystal Palace and Tottenham in their opening two matches of the Premier League season and also lost to Brentford in the EFL Cup.
In the high-scoring reverse to Spurs they played with James Ward-Prowse in central midfield, with the England midfielder moving in from his usual place on the right flank. Sangaré would provide protection to Hasenhuttl’s defence as an out-and-out defensive midfielder who would slot in alongside Oriol Romeu.
The Saints manager has brought in Mohammed Salisu to bolster his defence and turned Kyle Walker-Peters’ loan from Spurs into a permanent deal at right-back, but has been looking to strengthen in the middle of his team.
Harrison Reed’s loan to Fulham was also made permanent in an £8million, which gave Hasenhuttl one less option in the defensive-midfield role.

Thats what I never understand why buy from relegated clubs the players have already proven they are not good enough for the league and the French league is nowhere near as strong as the EPL
Informed journalism.
Redmond has worked out pretty well for us.
To be fair some players are better than the sum of the whole.
Take for example Grealish, he nearly went down with the Villa, oh wait…
As did MLT!
Interesting.

All been mentioned in varied forms last few days.
Finally a proper transfer window.
Tbh it was always likely Chelsea needed to let some go. Was hoping for Kante & Rudiger on loan but…
Maybe this clear out phase was what Ralph meant about opportunities
Yeah our activity was always going to depend on the moves made by the big clubs. Now it’s our turn at the trough.
Apparently (Twitter) we’ve asked United to be kept informed about a potential move for Jesse Lingard.
Hopefully bollocks - to paraphrase Malcolm Tucker: he’s about as much use as a marzipan dildo. Doesn’t get the job done and makes a fucking mess…
Not only is he shite, he is also overpaid. Apparently earns over £100k a week so would be our highest paid player and still not one of our best.
Sad day…I’m going have to get a new shirt with Hojbjerg on the back.
