Maitland-Niles close to finalising Lyon move
Ainsley Maitland-Niles is close to finalising terms with Lyon.
An agreement over a four-year deal has been made in principle and the 25-year-old is looking to fly out to France early next week for a medical.
Maitland-Niles - who is a free agent after leaving Arsenal - has had interest from numerous clubs, including Sheffield United and Luton.
He is understood to have turned down bigger offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia because he is hopeful of getting back into England manager Gareth Southgate’s thinking with regular football at Lyon.
The Ligue 1 side are thought to see Maitland-Niles as a good option in central midfield, while he can also play at right-back.
I hope the club that does take carries out a comprehensive drug test if he is thinking like that
