I keep hearing this on forums - I don’t think we’re directly replacing Vestergaard - that’s what Salisu was for. Surely we’re looking for someone to act as competition on the right side of centre defence - i.e. someone to compete with Bednarek.
Surely we can’t be planning on having two decent left-sided CBs in Salisu plus A.N. Other, and two dogshit right-sided CBs in Bednarek and Stephens?
It would make more sense to have A.N. Other and Bednarek fighting for one spot, and Salisu and Stephens fighting for the other, with first choice pairing eventually being A.N. Other and Salisu.
I suspect we will spend nearly that on a championship player or somebody nearing the end of their contract. It doesn’t buy you very much these days.
He needs to be better than Stephens at the very least.

Definitely bargain basement and wouldn’t be my first choice, but as you said above, never likely to spend £20m. And a £7m punt may be as good as an over-hyped £20m or has been.
