Hmm.
Patience may be a virtue
Thread.
Now Ings is out, Southampton will need to sign a striker sooner rather than later, with Blackburn’s Adam Armstrong, Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham and RB Leipzig’s Alexander Sorloth all being considered. Armstrong remains of interest, but Southampton remain unwilling to match Blackburn’s valuation for a player whose contract expires next summer. The forward was also left out of Tony Mowbray’s squad for their 2-1 win over Swansea on Saturday.
Southampton have tabled a “take it or leave it” offer and hope the Championship side will accept it but face competition from Norwich City and Crystal Palace.
Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard is another name that has been mentioned to The Athletic, although sources suggest the fee could again prove to be an issue.
A loan move for Abraham was explored but Chelsea will want to sell to balance the books after edging closer to signing Romelu Lukaku. Leipzig’s Sorloth was also considered, with Hasenhuttl a fan of the player, but that is now considered a non-starter.
Southampton remain confident of adding two forward players to the squad, one of whom could be another cheap deal for an academy player from a top side, similar to Tino Livramento’s transfer from Chelsea.
I see some of the papers say we are competing with Burnley for Ryan Christie from Celtic, for a fee of about £5m. Might be worth a punt………
Maybe a bit expensive given his contract looks to expire on 1 Jan 2022?. Goal tally last season not a patch on previous year.
Looks very promising. Did well in the Eredivisie last season
An upgrade on N’Lundulu off the bench for sure
Ooh…
To be honest, I’d just take the cash.
Expectations are low for this season and I can’t see him being our savior.
This one is interesting
So long as we get more than we paid for him.
But he’s only played one full game since 2018. Huge risk.
I should have added - On the basis we get him for bugger all.
It really isn’t
Think it through.
Apart from Redmond who does he start ahead of?
Read my post above
Long and Obafemi on the way out then I would think.
Southampton bid for Adam Armstrong reported as accepted by Blackburn
Just what Ralph needs on his birthday.
