Being taken seriously is something I think you should obviously know is something that does not concern me on here, our transfer policy is broken, you sell your best players and don’t replace them adequately you fail and in the long term it’ll lead to relegation.
Thats not rocket science.
Quite obviously as we’ve sacked Kruegar and Reed, it was broken.
Where the strategy has not been carried out over the past few years has been in focussing too much on bringing players in, while paying scant attention to those that we have in our own academy. Under Hasenhuttl we have, among other positives, used more players from the academy - Sims, Valery, Ramsey, Obafemi and a few others. None has been perfect, but all have shown sufficient promise of better things to come.
If they’re good enough we’ll play them, have we ever in our modern history been scared of playing youth?
A mix of all, buying senior players and not having an age limit due to lower sell on value, having youth on long term contracts that WILL cost more but it means we recoup more, and foreign moneyball youth.
Why are you so obsessed with signing old players? Are you insecure about your middle aged/middle class existence? The game has moved on Barry. Have you?
Can you answer my question first please? You said there is an age limit to our signings; I asked you what that age limit is. Can you provide this information? I feel it would be salient.
I haven’t the foggiest but we don’t sign older players do we? When did we last? You refuse to admit that or answer that as it means you acknowledge there is a policy, maybe its not so dogmatic to actually have a specific age.
You mentioned an age limit, I didn’t. If there is an age limit then what is it? If you don’t know (and you’ve just said that you don’t), then how do you know that any such limit exists?
Of course we have a transfer policy; indeed, we’d be pretty stupid not to. I haven’t said or suggested that we don’t - that’s just a straw man of your device. The policy as I understand it is to buy younger players who will develop with the club. However, as I stated earlier, there can and will be exceptions to this. To me this seems both pragmatic and sensible.
I’m not refusing to admit or answer anything. I’m simply asking you to answer questions that I’ve asked you. Most of my questions have either been met with other questions or ignored altogether, yet you keep insisting that I should answer yours. That doesn’t work.
No Barry, I’ve shared my opinions. Read back through my posts on this thread tonight and you’ll find my opinions therein. Neither am I being contrary; you made a statement and I asked you to give more details on it. You couldn’t, and in the end you admitted as much. You can’t state something as fact if you can’t provide anything to back it up; saying that this is just what you do is obfuscation.
Also don’t forget with the advent of the newest Sky deal, middle rung “cheaper” buys became fairly expensive buys and we all screamed from the terraces ‘we need to spend more’. This ended up in Mo, Carillo and Boufal. What’s the old saying? Be careful of what you wish for, which in turn ended Les and Ralph’s tenures.
