📚 The Sotonians Lockdown & Beyond Diaries

Well it was payday so I thought I would check to see how much the tight arse bastards were giving me this month.
Low and behold they have paid me 60 days of the 140 odd accrued leave days they owe me because I cannot go home.

Suffice to say it is the biggest single wage check I have ever received and should cover my quarantine bar bill.

Gingora has just explained to me that you can mix dry and wet pet food with the enthusiasm of a minor sorceror that has just learned to produce fire from their hands.

I politely told her that this notion had occurred to me before and indeed, had been implemented.

I bet you did. :joy::joy::joy:

For cats or dogs?

I have 2 cats.

One eats mainly dry food and one eats mainly wet food.

I’m fucked if I’m bolloxing around with making sure they have their respective mixtures in proportion - life’s too short

For both.

Pets are stupid. Fool them.

Gingora is back working from home, which meant I spent last night becoming her own personal IT department. However, I consider this getting off lightly compared to last time where I gave her my best computer. She let me buy a new one for myself.

I have to say, it’s nice having her back around. I realised how much I needed her about the place the other day, when I managed to slice the top of my thumb with a phone case. A fucking horror show for about five minutes, blood spurting everywhere. I thought I might die for those five brief minutes; contemplating the coroner’s report.

Cause of death: Being a fuckng fool and not having the missus about to save him

The wound has since been dressed and I am on the mend, but I had a day when my joypad thumb was out of action. Mouse games only. Even the cat has more game than that.

Chill. You’d have died in THE CAUSE
As in it would have been recorded as Covid related

I had to play the dreaded game “shit or sock” the other day. As I’ve remarked before, the dog has no shits left to give, but I must stress that I meant that figuratively. Literally, she has plenty. While her preference is to do her business in the back yard, she’s a fair weather outdoor shitter. If she doesn’t like the way the wind is blowing, then she’ll shit in the house, even after I’ve left the patio door open.

“Shit or sock” can be played by those who live in dimly lit houses or the partially sighted alike. The game is more exciting if you’re a smoker because your sense of smell is less acute.

The game involves seeing a dark object on the floor and wondering whether it is a shit or a sock. Most times, it’s a sock. But sometimes, it’s a shit, and that involves kitchen roll, disinfectant and calling the dog a little fucker if I’ve left the patio door open.

This week there were three cases on the same day. All shits. The little fucker. Gingora is less of a soft touch so I am hoping she straightens the old bitch out.

Sure it’s not Gingora trying to get you to toughen up on the dog?

My smoking room (balcony) faces south ish.
At night I saw bright stars.

Quite proud of myself early in lockdown for working out they were Jupiter & Saturn.

Month or so back late at night Vodka fuelled I deduced the new red coloured one on its own was Mars. Which tonight is right next to the Mini-Moon.

Equally impressive I just noticed I can see Uranus following close behind.

Pull your pants up ffs.

#YoungAdult2 is doing Physics and Astro Physics at Cardiff Uni and spent the summer (after getting up at 3pm every day) fixing my old 4inch reflector ( ooh err missus).

Got it fixed and before he went back we spent time looking at Mars, Jupiter and Saturn - as well as Venus at even more stupid o’clock.

Marvellous to see, but good to spend time with him - talking mainly about beer, wimmin and football.

I took that in 2017 by holding my phone’s camera lens to the eyepiece on my telescope

Just been stood in the longest queue since lockdown. Just to add a little frisson they were all in the vulnerable/at risk group.

Still…got me Flu and Covid disinfectant jab so I’m now good to go…off to St. Mary’s tomorrow to watch the game. :lou_lol:
