Well, I was expecting a battering and that didn’t happen, so that’s good. I didn’t watch the game and didn’t really know how we played. Seems like Austin had some chances when he came on. Who played well for us?

That bit was in reference to Huddersfield winning away at Watford which is somewhat of a surprising result.
This is a game of fine margins and being a mid table team with a mid table budget we are never going to have the best keeper who plays the perfect game and we aren’t going to have the best attackers who score the vast majority of chances.
I haven’t seen the game but from I read Forster should have saved the free kick (believable) and Austin had two one on ones and probably should have scored. At least one you’d expect.
If one of those two things happens - Forster makes the save or Austin finds the net - then we get a great point.
It is very frustrating but with a bit more luck at times things will improve.
ABSOLUTELY FUCKING MASSIVE game against Huddersfield now. The team needs to properly EARN a win now.
By that I mean, West Ham had 10 men and we got 2 penalties.
Palace hadn’t scored a goal or win a point all season when we went there. I don’t think their keeper made another save that day but I know Forster made at least two.
WBA, we needed some unreal solo play from Boufal to win. Something you cannot expect to rely on every week.
Everton were an utter shambles. Let’s not pretend they were anything but that. With an uninspiring caretaker manager in charge. If they’d taken BFS earlier then no chance we win that 4-1.
My point is we cannot rely on teams having an off day against us in order to win. We need to be better than them on the day when they are playing ok.
We are currently 3 points above the drop zone and could feasibly be in the shit by the end of the month, given games against Tottenham and Utd to come.
Nothing but a win against Huddersfield otherwise I’ll admit I will be asking for plastic bed sheets for Christmas.
As for the asset stripping stuff Barry, we sold no proper first team players in the summer. We retained the services of VVD, much described as the best CB in the league. Yet we are still pretty pants. We bought a bloke from Juventus and Lazio.
You need to stop thinking about these players as inanimate objects. If it were a house or a car and you refused to sell it to some northern cunt then you’d retain exactly the same house or car for yourself. However football players are people with egos, emotions, bank accounts and ‘ambition’ who probably resent the club for not selling them to said northern cunts because they want to triple their salary. As a consequence we have kept a player who has not returned to his best, because he probably harbours resentment towards the club that his measly £80,000 per week is not £200,000 per week. Why else but his attitude was he dropped today? He managed to play every league and European game last season and we all know how Claude used any excuse to rotate. It ain’t a fitness issue. So he isn’t performing 100% as he knows Jurgen the German will still want to rim him in January or the summer regardless of how shit he plays because he knows that even with one leg he is still better than Dejan fucking Lovren.
So arguably we are worse off having NOT sold our best player. For the record I still standby the decision not to cave to the Scousers and make a stand. Hopefully City will take him and we can be done with the whole affair.

Actually I take back my previous comment: I dont hope you are right with the 14th position prediction . There isnt much difference between 14th and 18th., they are both crap and both have their ups and downs.
