The Saints v Everton Build Up and Match Thread

Do you have a link to this as I didn’t know about it?

I can’t see it, maybe next summer. He will leave and you have to accept that, but we’ve been pretty smart in the transfer market and i’d imagine we’ve already got replacements lined up … Have some faith

I like Puel and you can see the thinking behind his appointment. Also, his post match interviews are so unintelligible that Sky are cutting him off after the first question

Well you have this one, whch is word for word the same as the Daily Mail one I posted when you were in your alcholoci fugue. They get his contract end date wrong though as it expires in 2018 not the end of this season. Surely if they were that sweet on him they’d wait until January and sign him to a pre-contract and his fee will go to tribunal.

I don’t know who Nottarf is but he does go about VVD and McQueen to 'pool a lot

When VVD signed it was for 5 years in 2015.He has since signed an improved 6 year contract until 2022.At the time of signing the contract in May 2016 he would have known that Koeman was offski.

He said at the time I am happy here and so is my family.I WANT STAY HERE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.

I can not see him leaving in January and not even in the summer. With Fonte getting towards the end of his career I can see VVD as club captain and someone to build a team around.

Another thing to consider is if there are others wishing to invest in the club you would not consider selling your best players. With the players we have we are only one prolific striker short of a very good team.

Not a bad game at all. The scoreline didn’t really reflect Saints’ overall superiority, Steks did RK a favour by keeping things respectable. We were walking in as the goal was scored. Haven’t seen one go in the Northam end for a while. Nice that it ended up being the winning goal, even if there were some potentially fraught moments before we discovered that.

Usual rules apply; this’ll be less of a football report and more a commentary on the experience. The early goal really set the tone, with Saints fans feeling confident thereafter while the Everton fans were muted. There was much Koeman mockery. mostly recycled. There was a repurposed version of the classic Lovren/cunt inquiry. It was pointed out that there was only one greedy bastard. The vitriol was appropriate, not going over the line as it did with Lallana in last year’s league cup game.

The biggest troll in St Mary’s was Puel, and he didn’t need a chant. The inclusion of Josh Sims, part of the youth setup that Koeman overlooked, will probably end all trolling on all Saints boards ever. How does anyone anywhere follow that up? Pre-game, the universal concern was that we wouldn’t find goals. Koeman’s lack of fucks in our youth setup was such that it is presently being considered as a replacement for the scientific concept of void.

So how sweet is it that a member of that disregarded youth setup has provided the vision to get us one of our first goals in open play? We were never able to rub Poch’s nose in the silky shit of the Koeman era. Tottenham are a good side and until recently, he’s been a good manager. There was no “which club is bigger” debate when Mauricio went to London.

Our visitors still have their history, but it’s a double-edged sword. I cannot imagine anyone scribing this particular episode of the Annals of Everton with any enthusiasm. Ron earned about 115K gross for this week’s efforts. Just glad we weren’t paying him.

Love this from the Fail - copied it here as I know you lot wouldn’t dare open a link to that rag

The goal was the ammunition Southampton’s supporters needed to unleash a volley of abuse at the returning Dutchman. His arrival from the tunnel had barely been registered and he took the time to shake the hands of several Southampton staff members in the dugout he used to sit in for two years.

But after the opener, they let rip with a series of pre-prepared chants that included a diverse array of language that would require so many asterisks to sensor it would be virtually incomprehensible.

I heard this from someone in Prague who claimed to be ITK. His children are settled and as a family they love it here.

I also heard (again) that a deal with the Chinese is nailed on, so who knows?

Dear Goat. I heard that the Chinese, whisper was a scam designed to make some Americans get off their arses.

I also heard that it was Red Bull & the only delay was how to get around the EPL name change rules that Hull fell foul of.

Tbh I prefer logic. VVD will only go in a summer. Most likely the next one. Very few massive deals happen in January irrespective of ownership unless there is ,an issue between club & player

No way is VVD going in January for half of his value.

Lovren was a brilliant deal for us, Toby was a fuck-up - but we have established now that no player’s word can be trusted so VVD, nice chap as he is, was forced to sign a deal that assures us of BIG money.

And if someone wants him in January they can pay even more as it will be an emergency signing for a season that is in the shitter (see Man Utd)

It certainly came back to bite him on the arse.He was very techy when questioned about it after yesterday’s match when he claimed to have never heard of Sims.

It is claimed that the only time he spoke to Sam McQueen was “get me a coffee boy”.Says it all really.

Not many returning players or managers have become more of a twat by their actions on their return, but in one afternoon Ronald has elevated himself from about a four on the Lovren scale, to an eight.

We’d be crazy to offload VVD in January. If bigger clubs have difficulty getting the right player in during the winter window, don’t fancy our chances.

It’s only really the desperate bastards that go on a spree in January. Most clubs have their targets listed long in advance for the summer window, with many deals happening in principle before it even opens.

I wouldn’t want you to go quoting that too much. :lou_wink_2: I added that last bit to spice up the true story that he’d only spoken to him once.
