Basically had to walk past it each day before could reach our access point to the 1st fairway.

We learnt to hate that uphill slog tgrough basically all the early morning spectators arriving on course

Sometimes, the smallest effort gives the biggest impact.
Had a real Aw, that’s nice, moment when this dropped in from our Boss

Hi All, I hope everyone is well and taken time to rest and reflect on the Ryder Cup.

I promised to let you know of any feedback that I received concerning the Media Operation at the Ryder Cup in Rome.

Steve Todd*,** Deputy Comms Director and his boss Scott Crockett who basically runs all the media aspects, of the Ryder Cup have been in touch.*

I am pleased to report that the messages are all positive.

Scott emailed “I am delighted to report that thanks to the sterling efforts of you and your team, we had no issues at all with the media at Marco Simone. It was a seamless operation and many of the media have given us feedback to say that it was not only the best organised Ryder Cup they have attended, it was also one of the best sporting events they can remember.”

Damn hayfever…

Dear Philip

I hope this email finds you well.

It’s been 7 weeks since the conclusion of the 2023 Ryder Cup, and we wanted to take a moment to express our deep gratitude for your incredible dedication and hard work throughout the event.

The recruitment process for the Ryder Cup began back in August 2021, so please understand that both the administration and management team needed time to recover after the intense 26 months leading up to the event. We sincerely hope that you had the opportunity to reflect on the tremendous success of the Ryder Cup and took some well deserved rest.

The 2023 Ryder Cup will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the great Ryder Cups. The hosting by Marco Simone was exceptional, and the Italian weather truly added to the magical experience The atmosphere created by the enthusiastic spectators was electric, particularly for those of you who were part of the 1st Tee Grandstand. The matches between Teams Europe and USA showcased incredible golf, and kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the final moments on Sunday afternoon.

None of this would have been possible without you, our amazing Volunteers. A total of 1491 Volunteers’ contributed their time and skills at Marco Simone, and we cannot simply thank you enough for your integral role in making the Ryder Cup a resounding success. Your talent, dedication, and teamwork were truly outstanding.

Volunteers’ travelled from over 30 different countries to be a part of the event, your commitment to volunteering, not just at the Ryder Cup, but all events you are involved in, is a testament to your hard work and passion.

We would like to share a quote from US writer Geoff Shackelford, who recognised the magnitude of the event.

“Marco Simone turned out to be a massive, beyond-belief, total home run success. With several fun match play holes injected by European Golf Design and massive amphitheatre seating befitting the nearby home civilization’s most influential arenas, this was easily the best Ryder Cup venue of the century.”

Ryder Cup Director Richard Atkinson said
