i like this place but the love-in and the warmth of Sotonians bosom business is getting a bit much and a little out of perspective. I genuinely think you are a kind warm person. Others are just annoyed at having spats with Fry and the notion that they are better people of more noble character is just bs in my opinion.
Yeah, I have a measure of agreement with the Whelkster here. We can’t really say we’re that different if we’re rolling over there and doing what we say we ain’t.
FWIW, I was warming to Fry in the last six months or so and I think we’d established some kind of equilibrium there. His intentions toward this place have never been benign, though.
His reporting of this place started out relatively magnaminous, with a hint of it’ll never-fly. He then appeared on TSW reporting that he’d signed up, and had fooled me with his stunning subterfuge.
That was followed by a post about being sorry he’d ever signed up here, implying that somehow Inquisitor Pap would use his fake details to track down his real identity.
Recently we’ve enjoyed PM Clique gate, which spawned three wonderfully written, if wildly inaccurate or out of date posts, not least about my status on this site.
I was Emperor Pap. Thanks to bletch’s elevation, I’m now simply co-Emperor pap. Bletch and I will determine Caesar and Augustus status by means of a knife fight, somewhere on neutral ground between Gosport and Southampton.
I said this was “completely unnecessary” what with the moves towards democratisation and all, but Bletch has insisted for some reason.

I’m sure it’s not just me who sees the futility in discussing people who you can’t be sure exist, who may or may not have said something in a PM you can’t read, who may or may not be posting under multiple logins, who may or may not be on a persistent wind up. Life really is too short.

I’m crying a lil’ bit, but mostly at Fry’s self-appointed status of defender of SaintsWeb against the smears of Sotonians, after spending several years ripping many of his new protectees to pieces.
