Well, yes, Gav, it does seem a bit rich when fellow site owners, mods, Soviets, or whatever they call themselves these days, such as Bletch and Bob, encourage us to use down-votes to self-police the site, and when I see a post that I deem worthy of a down-vote, for my trouble, I receive a sneer, insult, and what, I suppose, is some sort of innuendo involving Lou from the siteā€™s Supreme Commander-in-Chief. :lou_lol:

No, but Iā€™m sneeriously impressed by the wonderful double standards we have here.

You can take the piss out of anyone you like, as long as itā€™s pap.

For the record, not trying to play the victim here. Just wish everyone else would give it a miss.

Oh FINALLY another possible suggestion.

That it may have been some kind of non-state sponsored hit by former colleagues who had been harmed personally by his defection

I saw this on the BBC and thought you should see it: Russian spy: Poisoning poses major challenge for MI6 - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43355904

More plausible than it being Putin.

I donā€™t nece-_sneer-_ily see it that way Pap, Iā€™ve seen plenty of ā€˜argumentsā€™ and ā€˜accusationsā€™ allowed to be played out by other sotonians and only be pulled up by others when it getā€™s to the name calling stage, which I think is what people object to. Just my perspective of it.

Yours sin_sneer_ly,

Gavstar

Yeah, but youā€™re not me, Gav. Youā€™re never going to see things from my perspective _and _Iā€™d never expect you to.

I do hold some stock in the downvote being a moderation tool, perhaps not as much as bletch. That said, Iā€™d prefer it to be used for _fucking out of order _comments.

If the three brave souls think my comments were fucking out of order in context, more power to them - but Iā€™d argue that there have been plenty of people that have gone much further and received much less in the form of ā€œself-moderationā€.

My view is that weā€™re all big boys and girls, @thecholulakid didnā€™t seem that offended, so Iā€™m at a fucking loss as to why people have gotten so offended on his behalf.

Perhaps we should jip off all this free speech lark and allow @areloa-grandee become our sole moderator of content. Or perhaps not.

Just seemed a bit unnecessary to me but ho hum. No biggy. The sort of thing which, if said in the pub, would elicit a ā€œfuck off twat faceā€ rather than a clubbing to death with a bar stool.

You are just being a fucking turkish tool now Pap. I have posted like a complete dick in the past and I aint proud of it and admit its a fair copā€¦ you just constantly keep digging your own self-righteous holeā€¦ The above comment is just childish and you know it. If anyone complains at your style, they are labelled as Beano like ā€˜Waltersā€™ ā€¦ if they leave, they are ridiculled as mnot being able to handle the heatā€¦ unless its Jack Schittā€¦ will say it again, its becomming a bit poisoned and many a grown adult will just think its better to leave it and do something elseā€¦ Funny, I never thought Turkish was your role modelā€¦ :lou_eyes_to_sky:

You see, Iā€™m not offended at all by this.

Could someone get offended on my behalf pls?

Happy to get offended on anyoneā€™s behalf.

Can everyone post what I should be offended about and Iā€™ll take each in turn.

Happy Muthaā€™s Day btw ladies.

Thatā€™s it. Make all the infertile women feel bad. Cunt.

I am offended by your insensitive comment

Nextā€¦

Not trying to offend Pap, just point out you are acting like a twatā€¦ there is a difference.

This thread has been derailed somewhat ā€¦ almost as if someone doesnā€™t want us discussing the attempted murder of a spy.

Damn

. Rumbledā€¦

So, how many days since the poisoning happened and only now people who also dined in Zizi are told to wash their clothing and possessions.

I strikes me as a bit odd that people are being told to do this so long after the fact. If there was a risk then surely if anyone else was going to be affected then they would by now. Smacks of the advice to hide under a kitchen table in the event of a nuclear attack in the cold warā€¦

Without any facts and my own supposition it smacks of Government incompetence and perhaps covering upā€¦(hope thatā€™s enough of a disclaimer).

Look, Pap, just for the record, Iā€™m not offended by the remark you aimed at TCK. Why should I be? It wasnā€™t aimed at me ā€“ well, at least, not in the first instance it wasnā€™t. :lou_eyes_to_sky:

The reason I down-voted it was because, in my opinion, it went beyond the pale; I judged it to be on a whole different level to TCK calling you a stalker. (As an aside, I also think that personal insults, whoever dishes them out, only serve to stifle debate and discussion).

But, these things are subjective; I see that only two other forum members considered your remark worthy of a down-vote, so I take it from that that the rest of the forum are okay with it. Fine, so whatā€™s the problem? Either we have the up-vote / down-vote system and use it like, for instance, you do (11610 up-votes and 254 down-votes issued); or, if people are gonna get upset about it, why donā€™t we just do as Gav suggests above, and drop it?

Holy fvcks.

You want conspiracy? All my family have private profiles on FB.

My Bro made a joke about Health England advice I replied with the same comment I made above.

And The Head of Salisbury Council posted into our private comments.

Wtf?

Monitoring private FB feeds.

On a Sunday?

Better all check if youā€™ve been hacked

Meh, Iā€™m not upset. As someone thatā€™s had my own personal Icke-Wogan moment, itā€™s rather difficult to get upset about anything that goes on with internet forums.

So anything goes, including the stalker accusations, the charges of moral bankruptcy, charges of tartiness, your downvote, my consequent arfs and all the wonder-meta that has followed, including the double-standards.

So continue to downvote, continue to pull me up when you feel Iā€™ve earned it; no change is necessary. Just know that if I feel I havenā€™t earned it, Iā€™ll chuckle, and that raucous cackle will normally end up as a post, here.

On the TCK front, I was quite happy to let the beef simmer, perhaps even go vegan, but the tales of meaty neck-tattooed state-school parents (ā€œcuntsā€, I believe was the term used) got me cooking again.

Are you saying that Mr Skripol meeting his Mi5 handler every week is somehow neither here nor there in the context of this incident? It is not a case of believing is it, it is a case of weighing up the bullshit we are being fed, against the FACTS that are being reported as each day goes past. It is now established that there was no ā€œreckless spraying of nerve gas in a public shopping precinct, putting hundreds of innocent lives at riskā€. The incident happened in Mr Skripolā€™s home. But of course, much better to keep up the pretence of the ā€œhundreds of innocent lives being put at riskā€ scenario, and keep it going as long as possible, itā€™s what the Sun and Mail readers desperately want to believe anyway. I think we all know that there is only going to be one outcome, despite all logic pointing the other way, this will be the work of the ā€˜evil Russiansā€™. That is the Westā€™s, ie, The US, and by definition the UK, yapping at their heels, agenda, and has been for several years. This country has had no effective foreign policy of our own for many years. The general public in this country are expected to swallow anything we are told. We were told that the inquiry into the Litvinenko assasination produced incontrovertible evidence that the trail led back to the Kremlin. This ā€˜evidenceā€™ could not be made public of course, ā€˜national security old boyā€™, but trust us! Of course the fact that Livinenko was involved with some ā€˜questionableā€™ oligarchsā€™, and various ā€˜mafia type figuresā€™, is irrelevent. Couldnā€™t possibly have any bearing on the circumstances of his untimely demise!

As for your cheap shot re "info wars crazy peopleā€™, that is the standard response from someone who has his fingers in his ears, head in the sand. It is important and healthy that the powers that be who govern us are challenged when they are clearly not behaving honestly, as is the case in the current Salisbury incident. They have an agenda, demonize and marginalize Russia, that surely is indisputable to any thinking person observing world events over the past few years. They should not be given a free pass, and allowed to have their version of events to hold sway without question.

Just because you desperately want 'Evil Putin" to be responsible for this incident in Salisbury, it doesnā€™t automatically follow that he is. However much that may smear your rose tinted glasses. To any critically thinking person he would be way down the list. But as Barry so wisely said, We will never find out.! One thing i have learnt in my nearly 70 years on the planet is that the electorate of this country are held in utter contempt by the people who govern us. We are the little people, The only time we are even considered is at election time. They would give a shower of shite a bad name.
