WTF has happened to you Phil?

Have they switched your mouth and arse tubes so that you talk even more shit?

Also, Tena Man is a good way to stay dry. Apparently.

He’s been in hospital. I’m not saying it was rough, but this is his private bathroom.

Vocation - Heretic - Hazy IPA @ 6.5%

As with everything Vocation this is just north of lovely and just south of exceptional. Better than the last one I had. More creamy with flowery hops that give a little sharp tang once it’s gone down. Very enjoyable.

New Bristol Brewery - Mello Yello - Hazy Pale @5.2%

A little disappointed with this. It was nice and refreshing, not too cloudy but a little haze going on but it was just a little anonymous. Can’t even describe the taste or feel. Just ok. Also a LOT of yeast in the bottom of the glass. A LOT.

After a long day Mrs C_S wants a glass of wine.

The pub sells this
.Shall I? Seems a bit early though

Bought a bottle of this at the Droxford village fair today. It’s absolutely fucking gorgeous - one of the botanicals is meadowsweet flowers, which give it a truly distinctive taste. Mmmmmmmm

So the Dom is done

I had a case some years back and every few years we dive in and have another bottle - I have 1 left of the 2004

Moving onto Sena, a Bordeaux blend Chilean red. Some Uber wine wanker gave this 100pts out of 100 and he was right

I was yesterday years old when I learned that San Miguel was a Filipino beer and not a Spanish one.

So there.

This week, I have mostly been quaffing

Beak Brewery - Tolls IPA @ 6.5%

Loads of pillowy body and carbonation that spreads flavour across the tongue that then turns to sweet flowery goodness and then quickly hop bitterness. Wonderfully balanced taste and a thick mouthfeel make this memorable.

Northern Monk - Order of the Faith - Double Dry Hopped IPA @ 6.5%

So I had this before and something went wrong with the beer or my palate. It was far too malty. This time around there’s a much better balance. Lovely and refreshing. Worryingly neckable.

Lost Cosmonauts - Double Dry Hopped IPA @ 6%

Deep and heady flavour that at first is quite confrontational. But as I emptied the glass, I warmed to it. Complex stuff going on, on the palate. Oh, and did I mention that it’s £2/can in Tesco at the moment? That’s like 33.33p per % of alcohol. Ask any tramp, that’s a good ratio for an IPA!

Can I give a shout-out to Butcher’s Hook Ale House in Bitterne?

It’s run by @ant, late of this parish, and what that boy doesn’t know about beer isn’t worth knowing.

He keeps a great cellar and is always looking to find new stuff that puts a smile on punter’s faces.

This is their current menu:

He tells me that he is about to line up Chubbles - a collaboration between Manc brewery Cloudwater and The Veil. It’s a 10% triple IPA and it completely fucked with my head when I tasted it last month. If you see it anywhere have a go as it’s bloody gorgeous.

@BTripz, what do you say, when it’s on tap you and me get a bank loan and a couple of pints before A+E and a kebab?

So what’s with the odd shaped glass @NotBletch ?

Poncy “”Fashion” accessory or a drinking engine that adds a je ne sais quoi to the quaffing experience?

Put on your “I’m being patronised” pants, Kev because that’s an excellent question!

When you’re spending north of £5 for 440ml of hop-infused water you’ve got to make sure you get the most from it.

Once in the glass, the beer will deteriorate so a narrow neck and good head (f’narr) will help keep the flavour in for longer. Plus, I do the pretentious sniff of a new beer and, again, the narrow neck (good if you’ve got short fingers) helps to funnel the scent up my COVID-ravaged nostrils.

I’d be lying if I told you that I had done a blind test between an open, broad-rimmed glass and one that concentrates the flavour. But cleverer people than me have recommended it.

I’m currently limping my way through a Brewdog Hazy Jane (Guava edition) that Mrs Bletch ‘kindly’ bought me whilst at ASDA. It’s
a bit chemical. Must try harder.
