This could so easily have gone wrong tonight. 
The bird plonked a standard bottle of merlot on the shelf, looking for all the world like my non-alcy stuff. I came that close to tucking into the damn thing.

I would like to note that wine prices in Southern Africa are very reasonable, with the exception of Zimbabwe where the economy has collapsed and everything has to be bought in USD at a price (UK in a couple of years).
I’ve been paying the equivalent of £5 for a decent bottle of Pinotage, no more than £8-10 in restaurants. And this was £4.50 and delicious.
