I just went on a tour of an old art deco cinema thatâs been bought by the council to bring back to life. In the 60s quite a few bands played there such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Roy Orbison, The Ronettes, Small Faces, Johnny Cash and the mighty Status Quo. I got to walk on the stage they did.
Itâs going to be a comedy venue. I cannot wait.
This is cool

So, over here the âauthoritiesâ have a weather warning system. We had 2 alerts last night and within minutes we had relentless rain (some localised flooding as a couple of streams in local villages burst their banks.
Nowt interesting there.
This morning I was getting the SMS about every 30 minutes. No, again, not much until now abut 4 hours later we have steady rain.
Except.
Across the South West of Poland weâve had all sorts, there are some significant floods and a LOT of âTornadoesâ (and not the old RAF ones either. In fact lots of damage around the region trees, roofs etc.
Whirlwind air passed Tuesday by the municipality WojciechĂłw around noon. As a result of the storm - which ripped roofs, power lines, broke trees - 42 farms were affected. 120 farm and residential buildings are damaged. The biggest losses are in Stasin, Palikije Pierwsze and CyganĂłwka.
Alert IMGW. A series of tornadoes in Poland
Meteorologist IMGW Mateusz Barczyk at the Wednesday press conference stressed that when it comes to weather phenomena in the coming days, the situation is ânot obviousâ.
We find out from internet reports about seven places where yesterdayâs whirlwinds occurred (âŚ) Today this situation at least at the angle of the wind has stabilized somewhat, which does not mean that such phenomena are excluded. The whirlwinds can hit depending on where the storms will be the most

So obviously, there is no climate changeâŚ
But all this came up in conversation with my youngest who is in Munich. Who commented that they have been bashed by storms and have burst rivers & floods an alerts
And WHY is this a pleasure? I FINALLY got to test out my fake North Face Goretex Jacket I bought in Cambodia 18 months ago - 1st time in proper rain and it passed with flying colours, and is now set as back up for?
Yep, Glasto.!
Right, off to fill some sandbags
Managed to get pre-sale weekend tickets for Frank Turnerâs Lost Evenings in 2020 in Berlin.
Little trip away and music. Cost a lot less than here.
Are you sure?
If you had just put your jacket under the for a couple of minutes, you could have saved those poor farmers much grief
True, did that obv but a few minutes ainât a Glasto test, needs a good couple of hours - worst Glasto it annoyingly drizzled for the whole day, not much copes with a long wetness.
I have a feeling that if you use it at all, itâll probably be as a sunshade(apart from the big storm Saturday night, but thatâll last less than an hour and you wonât have your jacket with anywayđ).
Dude, I always have the kitchen sink with me
In truth, at our age THE most critical piece of kit is the folding/camping chair. Into the base of that fits the coat & a sweatshirt in a bin liner to stay dry, that then goes over the shoulder and we lug 5kg around all day.
Backpacks donât work as you canât then get the chair on your shoulder so itâs a bum bag for me - Andy, one of our crew, got his Mrs to sew TWO straps on his chair cover so he can wear it like a back-pack.
12 hours with nowhere to sit apart from in mud. Itâs Edgy for about the 1st hour on Thursday morning, then itâs an utter nightmare!
I take it you donât bother trying to move once youâre in that lotđ
Rucksack-chair is not a problem.
or for the gentlemen that wants back support.
Thereâs some great ultra lightweight ones and a wide choice of sizes(you probably know this already).
Being immune to fit women.
While the eyesight is good enough to read, peopleâs faces are still kinda distorted. This means that I am unable to tell bald people apart, and that I am immune to the charms of fit women.
Those that remember my tale of having to deal with a Margot Robbie lookalike and basically being unable to move or speak in her presence will appreciate what a huge fucking fillip this is.
The flipside is that I am now subject to the charms of mingers.
This is the chair we have. Packs into a back pack and is reasonably light. Only used in ok weather. I donât bother sitting when muddy unless I find a seat in a pub/bar area.
We have the cheap version for festivals:

edit: same price.
edit again: Iâm sulking now coz I got ripped off:
I cannot remember how much I paid for mine. I think it was about ÂŁ24.99 but my partner may have paid more for the expensive original. Think they now do camping beds.
also got pre-sale tickets for Ride at the Barbican in December. Going to be a chilled comfy gig.
Oi you lot, take it to the Glastonbury thread. I look at this one for pictures of Molly*, not folding fucking chairs.
*There might just be a song in there. Or maybe not.
Yeah, me too ⌠there hasnât been many of them though
fair point. But trying to keep any thread on topic seems to be like herding cats.
Bullshit.
Itâs like trying to herd cats with Jellyfish.
No, youâre supposed to post pictures of Molly like THIS today -
