I wish I could get up and down a flight of steps at all recently. I somehow damaged my knee just over a week ago, conveniently a day before visiting the capital and having to negotiate the underground. FFS. Itās still fucking killing me now, took me half an hour yesterday to hobble from the City Cruise car park to the Pass Office, and then I had to get onto the ship.
I can understand that but I have no injury to justify my caution.
Iām now faced with the dilemma, do I bow to the common sense option or choose to risk my neck in denying Iām ready for that option.
Is your insurance up to date?
Ooh
A bad knees threadā¦
Not covered for self inflicted injury.
No, just no.
But factor in the generally crap resale value.
We ended up dumping the one the folks had when moving mum out to the home.
Would have got maybe a couple of hundred quid but the company that said theyād buy it were complete dicks - trying to charge extra to remove it at a date and time that didnāt suit them.
Well yes. I think we had to pay someone to remove the one in my parents house in Blackfield
You donāt buy them as a financial investment, you buy them because you canāt get up the stairs anymore and it saves you moving to a bungalow. And that in turn saves you money and the hassle of moving.
The advert on the roof of their offices outside Waterloo implied they were an enabler for geriatric sexā¦.
True
And leaves the family having to deal with companies that prey on the bereaved when house clearing
Fuck privatised railways.
We were on a train trip to Bristol today.
Train journey is Portsmouth Dockyard to Cardiff.
Southampton to Bristol - all on time. Problem was, there was a problem with the 4 coach train at Fratton, so they reduced the train by 50% to 2 coaches. OK so far.
They must have been the only organisation in the country that didnāt know there was a rugby international at Cardiff.
From Salisbury onwards, the half size train was packed more and more, until no one could move. I would suggest breaking every rail H&S rule in the book.
Luckily, we had seats, and just stayed in them until Bristol Temple Meads.
With hundreds, possibly thousands, of rugby supporters on their way to Cardiff, were there buses put on to move the folk to Cardiff in the absence of train space. FUCK NO - dickheads.
Return journey at 6.30 was the same - but 30 minutes late because of āovercrowding of trainsā. Wow - what a fucking surprise!!! Who could have seen that coming?
Not a life and death matter, but a what a bunch of useless fuckers who are obviously unable to organise said piss-up in brewery.
I wonder why people use their cars instead of the train?
Started off so well then you mentioned Portsmouth and I sort of switched off
Itās not only the problems you so eloquently outlined, itās the fucking prices, so much cheaper to drive even one person let alone a carload. Iād love to be able to hop on a cheap train to London with a travelcard thrown in, like the supposedly dreadful days of British Rail. You need a fucking masters degree just to buy a ticket these days, and a bankroll to match. Cunts.
From the YouTube comments:
āIām literally sitting on the National Express whilst playing this, the whole coach just cheeredā
Five pound 40p to London. Hop off at Hammersmith and youāre right next to the Tube Station.
And, a fvck site more legroom than the modern SW Trains running through Salisbury
In my case, the ticket cost was (I think) reasonable - some convoluted and weird deal Mrs TB found - about £80 for three of us.
However - there is no circumstance where we could consider travelling to London by train. Last time we did, the London leg of our journey was much more expensive than the Paris to Barcelona leg, on a modern, extremely fast train with travelling staff.
On this occasion, the train from Barcelona was very late, and we were refunded the whole cost of the tickets. As we were late to arrive at Antiquera Santa Anna, we were bussed down to Algeciras, and with no waiting time, arrived there earlier than originally planned!
People coming to our country and travelling by train must be horrified at the cost and condition of our train networks.
Indeed.
