It’s down to a multitude of issues. There are 7 big timber mills in Europe which supply most of the EU. An American / Canadian consortium bought 2 of them last year and diverted all stock and production to North America which has resulted in a dent of local supply for a lot of softwood. Certain species of durable woods like Siberian Larch have been affected by weather and covid restrictions with transport. Covid restrictions and a cliff edge drop in demand for steel resulted in downscaling of production which has been caught out by a subsequent surge in demand. This has resulted in a run of alternatives such as Aluminium. Most UK Merchants stockpiled where they could because of brexit uncertainty last year and were caught out by the pandemic as demand fell sharply. Now they’re selling but have to search far and wide as producers have struggled to scale back up production in time. Add to that a global shortage of raw materials.
It’s not all materials that are affected but about 60% of what is used in the UK is imported from the EU and a mixture of lockdowns and brexit red tape has stretched lead in times and increased costs.
British Steel closing their order book is a big problem for the rest of this year.

Most sand / quarried materials will go to the big aggregate suppliers first before it reaches the DIY stores.
Mate is doing some research here or a renovation projectand oof. Same problems.
Huge spike in cost of materials & shortages.

Weird because was speaking to the guy working here at Cobham Towers earlier and he said if I’d asked him about timber shortages 6 weeks ago he would have said there were delays getting hold of timber (containers out of place). Said it’s generally ok now for bog-standard wood but lead in time for specialist finishes / non standard doors etc is longer but easing.
His big grumble is more about the time spent trying to select and pay for wood at the local builder centre what with Covid restrictions.
It is sunny, hot & a bit humid.
The forecast is for storms & flash floods.
Reports coming in all around of blocked road carnage.
So I sit here in the sun seeing lightning all around instead of doing the weekly shop.
And the chance to actually have sat outside at a bar in town for a pint 
Finally realising that the rhubarb crown I bought on line back in March was actually dead as the parrot, and probably was before the fuckers took my £8.50 and posted it to me. Left a stinking review on Amazon, which is good, because I don’t normally leave any reviews.

This is not a little annoyance, it’s a big one!
Reading that Cameron was paid more by the failed company he was pushing at government than he was as prime minister, then thinking back to the article several days ago which revealed he claimed the best part of £115,000 from our taxes for expenses - allowable from 1994ish?
WTF goes on here, or do the timings not quite add up; whatever - still stinks to me, and is definitely a little annoying.

One can choose to live life “the right way” and live on fumes but knowing you did the right thing.
Or you can be a modern politician in a democracy.
We all chose wrong, but the right way.
But we’re not in the political sphere.
Joe Public can be ignored while the “elite” burrow their snouts even deeper into the trough.
It’s like the “establishment” knows that we know what they are up to but we’ve been trained not to question/ try to prosecute them.
Why don’t we? - will be interested to hear thoughts given the often very strong political opinions we hear posted as the truth on this message board.

- They all have a small bowl and a flat section either at the front or
at the back. - Most have the bowl actually under the back of the seat
- Almost all have a flush pipe about 1.5 inches wide.
Now this week we have viewed hundreds of crappers. Every time.
